Casa Osito, Santiago Architectural Masterpiece

Casa Osito (Bear Cub) is close to Santiago Square with shopping, movie theater and market. Santa Lucia Square with all of its great restaurants is only 5 blocks away. And the main square is only 7 blocks away. The location is perfect! The architectural features built into Casa Osito make it unique. The ancient stone walls, soaring beamed ceilings, beams, original pasta tiles and open living area provide a gorgeous and functional space for enjoying your holiday. The house was recently renovated and is architecturally exquisite and combines the old colonial charm with a modern update. The kitchen and master bedroom face the pool and patio area. The house features furniture from Yucatan Custom Furniture and Capacua (as well as some funky antique pieces), lighting from Takto and artwork from well-known Merida artists. The house has a light and open feel with the addition of numerous skylights for ventilation. Each bedroom has mini splits to keep things cool.

Parking is available in a nearby public lot. There is a taxi stand on Santiago square. Taxi fares in Merida are inexpensive, with fares within the Centro set to about 50 pesos. Uber is also available.

Santiago is a residential neighborhood where you can walk easily for everything you need. There is a daily market on the square where vendors sell all kinds of foods. The block around the square also includes a grocery store, movie theater, pharmacy, bars, restaurants, art galleries and other places of interest. Many expats live in the Santiago area.

Great Place in Merida
Casa Osito was perfect for our weeklong stay. The company handling the property was friendly and their communication was excellent. The guide that comes with the rental was invaluable to us during our stay! We loved the small and private pool. I highly recommend getting their private parking spot too. Worth every penny!

The house was beautiful and the perfect blend of authenticity and modern! Our concierge, Beto, was wonderful and attentive. A minor issue reported was remedied immediately. My only frustration was a parking ticket received for parking where directed so I advise skipping on street parking and utilizing the lot. Overall, a wonderful home within a great location of town and close to asking proximity to all of the sites!

A lovely location fro exploring Merida.
We were very pleased with the style and quality of the house. Everything worked well, and we had all that we needed for our week's stay. After going into the grand plaza with its crowds and vendors, we were happy to come home to our quiet neighborhood and our "own" Parque Santiago.

Beautiful home in Merida
Casa Osito was the perfect home in Merida. It was very spacious and well equipped. My family and I (2 adults and 2 boys) spent two weeks here and would have loved to stay longer. Everything was great; communication, location and amenities. The managers were great, very prompt in all of their responses and willing to help with everything from booking excursions to getting a physician to come on a Sunday morning. The location could not be better. It was close to Centro, Mercado Santiago, bakeries and numerous restaurants. The pool was perfect for relaxing and beating the midday heat. We are looking forward to returning and having another adventure in Merida soon.

What a gem!
The house was amazing clean well stock with everything you could possibly need. The architecture to die for. My husband and I enjoyed the spool in the evenings super refreshing. This property is managed super well and make it very easy to communicate with them and can solve any issue in a blink. We will definitely stay here again!

I want to move into this place. It's beautiful like I've never seen at an rental property, and we've been all over. And clean, and modern. I took a bunch of pictures and I'm going to try to rip off the entire design aesthetic in my own home. I will not succeed.

Wonderful house and location
We stay in Merida for the month of March . The house was wonderful and the pool was a must ! The property was well maintained and the weekly cleaning was great. The pool was maintained a couple times a week too . Beto, our concierge person was very attentive and helpful. He always was there when we needed advice and booked many side trips for us that were amazing . The location was terrific and the informational binder was very helpful about restaurants, shopping and grocery shopping. We highly recommend this house and company .

Best service ever.
Merida as a destination has a ways to go but in our three full days there we took two to hire a car and driver to see the archeological sites nearby. The hosts helped arrange both trips. When we returned hot and tired on Friday afternoon from the second visit, the smoke detector was beeping in one of the bedrooms. We called to report it and within the hour someone came to fix the problem. What an amazing thing!

¡Perfecto!
This was a perfect home base for my family's week exploring Yucatán state. It's such a charming home. The courtyard with the little pool might be one of my new favorite places in the world 😄 We had so much fun exploring and felt great knowing we could come home to Casa Osita every night. Beto was so kind and helpful when he met us at check in and we felt comforted knowing we could count on the concierge services if they were necessary... though everything went so smoothly and the info provided was so thorough that we had the need. Fantastic and beautiful property!
I have been regularly visiting Merida since 2010 and generally rent hotels for each of my stays. As this visit was for ten days, I decided to look at rental properties and found Casa Osito online. This house met all my expectations and beyond. The family who owns and manages their many properties are lovely, kind, and helpful. I mainly dealt with Becca, but I also engaged with Mike and their family. Before checking in, they set up a Whatsapp group to make communication easy. I cannot say enough about the rental quality, the owners and the location! There is a laundromat next door with a wonderful woman named Jenny (she also speaks some English). It made it easy to have my laundry services attended to quickly. I will continue to rent my future properties from Mike and Becca when I visit Merida. Perfect Getaway!
Beautiful spot, lots of room for two couples or a family. Great location, walkable to everything central and property management offer concierge services, an amazing guide and a nice welcome. The pool was refreshing after walking all day and was clean and private. The front bedroom is next to the road and can get busy in morning, besides that it was an amazing place to stay.

Gem of a location in Barrio Santiago
The location was ideal, the property comfortable, spacious, and relaxing. It was great to be just one block from parque Santiago and a short morning or evening walk to la plaza grande or Santa Lucia. The small pool was a lovely escape from the afternoon heat. And the property guidebook was fantastic for planning delicious meals in this culinary paradise of a city, museum trips, cenote adventures, and day trips to archaeological sites. Highly recommend Burro y Flauta and Casa Osito to anyone visiting Merida!

Perfect Merida vacation spot
My friend and I stayed here for four nights as we explored the area and attended a wedding. Our expectations were exceeded on every account. Our Casita was adorable and immaculate. The kitchen was stocked with water, coffee and beer. The beds were comfortable and the shower pressure was excellent. It was conveniently located to explore Merida on foot and to catch taxis as needed. Beyond that, the complimentary concierge service was outstanding! Beto answered our questions and provided so much additional information about the area. He arranged a day trip to the ruins, reccomended restaurants and where to get covid tests (tricky on a Sunday) for our flights home. We were able to check in early and Beto made our early arrival and departure times seemless for us. When we return to Mérida, we will absolutely stay here (or at another of their properties) again!
