"We got the cheap studio with the sofa beds that dont have such great reviews. However, we turned them around and put them together to make a big bed. They were quite comfortable and the sheets and pillows were good quality. Very satisfied. The only issue was that there was no dish soap in the kitchen. The balcony had great views of the village and the beach. We were facing west, and had a lovely sunset. The staff were friendly and helpful. Highly recommend the restaurant called Bellmonte next...

"Great hotel in Monte Gordo, we had a fabulous stay in a wonderful town with amazing beach and very close to the Spanish border. Staff were grand, we had a very good buffet breakfast, main items to choose from. Very close to beach and shops. If needed there is a 2 1/2 mile walk to the border town of Vila Real de Santo Antonio along a straight road but the beach walk is glorious although twice the distance. Beach is just fantastic. "I liked that the staff spoke English Spanish and Portuguese. We chose this property because we wanted to use the Spa. This feature is in their name. The Spa was closed during the time we were at the hotel. Very disappointing. :-("

"Terribly disappointing hotel. For a 4-star , among the 5 most expensive, the value for money ratio was terrible. In a 2 bedroom suite, the second bed was a fold out, with a ratty mattress. In one-week stay, sheets and towels were changed once, floors cleaned twice. They could not provide me with a water kettle or early coffee (coffee shop opens at nine).
