"This place has a lot of potential as a classic country hotel. Check in wasn’t particularly welcoming and first impressions count. We were shown to our room and it was cold with no lights on. The receptionist who wasn’t friendly was shocked when I commented on that…
Breakfast was slow but we were relaxed and enjoyed the views. Good quality though and plenty of options.
Room 2 was lovely (once the heating and correct lighting had been turned on) with great views. Comfy bed and good linens....
"Awesome spot for hiking central or exploring surrounding points of interest. Far from the madding crowd - in winter at least! Great atmosphere! Dog friendly ❤️
Breakfast a bit so so buffet style but maybe because of season and cold plates - because of season.
Will be back "
"A lovely country Inn serving great food. Our double room was spacious and very comfortable. There are circular walks directly from the hotel that we sadly didn’t have time to try out, but this only serves as a good reason to come again! "
"My second time in a year to the Lake District. Great Hotel and excellent rooms. My room was flooded with light and a big comfortable bed. Heating was great and the house keeping. The breakfasts are fantastic and certainly worth the indulgence. It’s located in a lovely village, with breweries, pubs, tea rooms and local craft shops. I highly recommend a stay. "
"Lovely hotel with great staff. Very clean although the room and bathroom were not huge. Newly decorated it was very clean - great shower. Great parking and access to Ambleside. Only grumble is the continental breakfast went out for cooked breakfast on 1st morning "
"We have been to Ambleside many times but this was our first stay here. Lovely B&B in great location in town. Hosts friendly and welcoming. Bedroom small but comfortable with everything we needed. Breakfast excellent. Would definitely return."
"Lovely coay B&B. Decor is modern but in theme with the lake district. Lots of little home comforts included. The owners are very friendly and cant do enough for you. Breakfast was very good and all cooked to order with a hige range to choose from. Rooms are lovely and its in a great location. free parking too which is a big plus point."
"A great guest house in the heart of Ambleside with secure parking a two minute walk away. Room was excellent, very well decorated ad fitted out. ON-suite was good and the shower was super powerful. Tracey and Kevin were great, super friendly and breakfasst was top notch, loved the big fat cumberland sausage and the poached eggs were excellent. Would highly reccomend."
"Stayed for 3 nights with our dog.
Food at the pub was nice and we were able to book a table for each night we stayed at the pub for the food.
Room was a decent size for what we needed as most the time was spent outside.
The room has a bowl for water for the dog, and a towel for them.
Tray for boots next to door to put them to stop mud in the room as well.
Room cleaned each day and service was great."

Carlisle Station Hotel, Sure Hotel Collection by BW
5/5 Excellent
"We stayed at The Station Hotel purely because of its proximity to the railway station but found it such an enjoyable experience that we are already planning a return visit.
It is an old building, part of the historic centre of the city, and at the moment there is a certain amount of traffic disruption because of a genera[ upgrading of the area but we were not ina car and were not effected by this, Very friendly, helpful staff bit on the desk and around the hotel. Tajnk you for a lovely visit.

"This is such a special place, historic, scenic, homely, warm and welcoming. The garden suite was outstanding and the food quality excellent. The only thing I could possibly complain about was the Guiness as sad as that is. It frustrates me incredibly when I order a branded draught beverage and it comes in a different branded glass. The Guiness was poured in one go whereas the connoisseurs of the black beauty recognise and appreciate it’s a slow patient process leaving mid way to stand for a while. I did not like to inform the extremely pleasant and obliging Italian barman in the error of his ways. Apart from that minor misdemeanor we can’t wait until we return. "

"This was our second stay and it didn't disappoint. The only issue was on arrival with there being feather bedding in the room which we'd spectacled to be removed prior to arrival. However as soon as I mentioned it , it was resolved and non feather replacements were in place immediately.
Service at breakfast and check in was excellent as was the super fresh breakfasts. Fresh fruit , beautifully cooked choice too.
Staff were great and when I asked for some toothpaste as we'd forgotten ours we were provided with some , again immediately. The surroundings, furnishings are all great.
Home cooked treats at the entrance are a lovely touch.
Thanks guys and hope to see you again soon. "

"The Daffodil is conveniently located for easy access to Grasmere and the nearby lakes. It is ideal for a walking holiday and is surrounded by the beautiful Lakeland fells and lakes.
The hotel staff are friendly and the hotel offers a good menu with a range of meals at reasonable prices.

"Check in was smooth. Room was clean and adequately equipped. Towels changed and toiletries etc replenished daily. Breakfast choice was great food excellent. We dined in on the Sunday evening after a splendid afternoon at Carlisle races, outstanding food, cooked to perfection. Special mention for Kyle behind the bar and waitering, 5⭐ service, a real asset to your establishment, polite, knew his job and was great at it too all done with a smile. Would I recommend the Cumbria hotel to fellow travelers, without hesitation. We will definitely be returning, hopefully Kyle will still be there 👍"
