Trash Cans Caused Bear Visit on First Night
Overall the property was a good place to stay and easy walking distance to the beach. However, our first night was not the best, as improperly stored trash cans were pummeled by a bear on our first night.
Upon arrival on 7/27 at 4 pm the trash cans were strapped to a pole. We were in the house for two hours before going to dinner and we had not used the trash cans. Upon our return to the property @ 9:15 pm. Two trash cans had been disturbed & one tipped over. Trash/garbage was on the ground which included raw chicken & beef. We cleaned up what we could. Next day 7/28 we noticed even more trash way out in the woods. We called the mgmt. team who came quickly, but after we had picked up the trash. We ended up never using the trash cans. We took the trash over to my father's house.
The trash cans really need to be put in a secured shed. We saw a small black bear near the unsecured trash bins under the deck (but not used). We can see a large trail of trash in the woods, which may not be part of the property land.
Second, there was an awful stench in the pantry - right of the fridge. It was likely from a bog of something rotten that my son found on the top shelf. It smelled of rotten meat. The cleaner came out , but it did not go away. We were unable to use the pantry. The clearner, and my father, also cleaned the trash bins which as I said were filled with raw meat and chicken.
Finally, the front door lock stopped working. Apparently the battery died.
