Sleeping Bear Cabin - Bear Paw

A lakefront, three bedroom, 1 1/2 bath in a gated community of Bear Paw on beautiful Lake Hiwassee. The cabin includes a floating dock perfect for sunbathers, swimmers, boaters, and fisherman. Two decks, one screened, overlook the lake with a fire pit and picnic table for added outdoor enjoyment. Neighborhood amenities also include a community pool, clubhouse with internet (cabin internet is not present), basketball and tennis courts.

Harbor Cove Marina is in the same arm of the lake providing fuel, supplies, and rentals. Mountain View Marina within Bear Paw also provides fuel rentals, towables, and supplies.

Convenient attractions can be found 1-2 hours away include Smokey Mountains, Gatlinburg, Maggie Valley, and the Ocoee River. The Fields of the Wood offers the largest Ten Commandments monument in the world. Chattanooga has a nice aquarium with several attractions including Ruby Falls and the Lookout Mountain Incline Highway.

The best season for boating in from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. The cabin also offers a beautiful Blue Ridge Fall colors experience!

Wonderful vation
The cabin is beautiful. I loved that the bedrooms are all downstairs. There is plenty of room for everyone to socialize. Driveway is very steep tho but manageable. We definitely will recommend the cabin to friends.

Wonderful chance to unplug
My family travels to Bear Paw every year for a family reunion. This was our first time renting this cabin. It was super spacious, very well stocked, and clean. I literally had to pull my kids from the lake every day. It was just what we needed before the start of another busy school year.

This was a great place!!
The whole house was great. Including no WiFi so we could unplug. The dock was where we spent most of the time and used the canoe everyday. Lisa and Mac at Harbor cove Marina are amazing people and so helpful. Rent a boat and try Mac’s BBQ. Yes the driveway is a bit of a challenge but we loved are stay. Thank you for hosting us!! White Christmas
We got exactly what we were looking for! A mountain cabin with beautiful views & a white Christmas! ❄️ The owner was very clear with us that this was mostly a summer lake cabin & the lake is extremely low in December. We decided to book anyway & enjoyed walking around the bottom of the lake. The first day we parked our mini van down the steep driveway. The next day we moved it & decided not to pull it back down. Great decision because rain & snow arrived. Such a beautiful area all around the cabin with magical snowy views. We'd love to visit in the summer for a totally different experience. We do wish we'd been able to get the fireplace working. Maybe some clear instructions for that could help. Thankful for all the cookware, etc. Made cooking in easy! Our boys would have loved wifi. They trekked up the driveway to hop on their social media couple times a day. 😆 Glad we visited the dam & marina, both gorgeous!

Late fall
It was great to see nature in late fall. The cabin was well stocked with items and supplies to assist with thanksgiving celebration. We even had nice enough weather to take canoe out on the water. The driveway is tad tricky with two wheel drive and teens were not so thrilled with no WiFi but overall it was great and owner communicated with us when needed.

Absolutely Beautiful! The House has everything just bring your clothes, fire wood and food. Washer and dryer helped out a lot. “Drive way” Go slow . Very steep . Worth it ! TV worked perfectly. cell phone spotty but who cares when you are on VACATION! Thanks Jon for sharing your home. PS we bought a home while we were there.

Comfortable and Clean on the Lake
Very cute, comfy and clean house on the Lake. VERY remote location with nearly no Cell Service and NO WIFI. Steep and narrow driveway that is not for the faint of heart, but we got in and out in a minivan, so it is doable for anyone. Owner is fantastic and very responsive.

Wonderful Relaxing Time
The home was wonderful, lots of room, cleanly, and had everything we needed. Truly a home away from home. A wonderful view of the lake from the upper balcony which I spent soaking up the surroundings. Our own private dock and a canoe that the grands enjoyed learning how to use. Fishing and swimming from the dock was quite enjoyable. The owners gave referrals for boat rentals and we took them up on it by renting a pontoon for the day. A very enjoyable community. Would recommend to anyone else that is looking for somewhere special to go.

Steep Stairs & Driveway Nice Otherwise
We enjoy the cabin. It was clean and spacious. It has some things not advertised: a canoe, lifejackets, camp chairs, herbs, spices, air fryer, grill/smoker and a long driveway with a 35 degree drop. Our minivan was not adequate, so we walked it. As you can see from the photo, the backyard is equally as steep, with at least 50 stairs. The dock was lovely. It is really close to the marina. You can easily swim to it if you want to rent something, but make reservations ahead of time. The lake was very quiet during our stay Mon-Thurs in late July. We did find a mostly dead scorpion in a bedroom. I wasn't aware they liked the mountains and humidity. Maybe a leftover from a previous guest.

Perfect for a multigenerational family gathering
This rustic cabin was perfect for our family to meet and gather during these crazy times (Covid-19) Brought all our food and never left. Dock and swimming platform are FABULOUS! Paddled the canoe to the very close by marina to rent a boat and get some BBQ. Jon is very easy to communicate with - pay attention to his driveway description and advice.
