My stay was very strange from start to finish. After checking in, the door to my room seemed to have issues. On the second day, The door battery died, and my dog was locked in there. The key wasn’t the issue, the door locking device was dead bolted shut. The front desk was less than enthusiastic deck to help with the situation and said maintenance wouldn’t be in until the following day. In a panic, I’m in the hallway screaming at this point, trying to get the door to open. Thankfully, I remembered it was warm the night prior in the room so I cracked the window. I stayed on the first floor and ran outside to climb through the window To retrieve my dog and my belongings. The front desk called And asked if I made it through the window OK? Would I like to come down and change rooms? DUH!!!!! Or else I’ll be climbing through the window to come and go??? Jeez….. she was not very helpful and when someone got there before me To check in at the desk, I just asked for a towel and a roll of toilet paper for the new room which weren’t there and she begins to say sure after I’m done here and Begins an entire checkout process before just turning around to give me what I needed after knowing what I just went through. Rooms were OK on cleanliness. Average. I also booked through Expedia and called prior and was told there were no pet fees but then when I got there, they charged me an additional $30 per night and I stayed 2 nights so that was an additional $60. Never rectified the situation.

As soon as I entered the room, the oder was pungent! So I opened the window to air the room out. Mind you it is October so not warm. So I turned on the heating unit and that smelled like someone urinated in the register. So I left and went to Meijer to purchase gloves, Lysol wipes, candles and room spray to return and clean the entire room just to make it tolerable to sleep. The toilet wouldn’t flush properly so I reported that to the front desk and asked for towels and shampoo and conditioner refill the man at the front desk said he would try to get some one to get to the toilet. And that housekeeper would take care of towels and things when she cleans the room. So when I reached at the end of the day. The room wasn’t cleaned and the toilet wasn’t repaired. I went to the front desk asked why my room wasn’t cleaned, I was told the room is only cleaned after the third day of your stay. So I asked for four sets of towels and I was told to bring the dirty ones down to her at the front desk. I’m appalled that I paid $227.66 (plus the cleaning supplies)

Baymont Grand Haven is always a good choice if you are looking for reasonably priced pet friendly. The rooms are clean, pool is nice. Breakfast is standard hotel free breakfast with powdered eggs and rubbery sausage, but aren't all free breakfasts that way? Pancakes are good and there's all the normal breakfast options otherwise. The attendants are always very friendly and hard working, and keep the place clean and stocked. I'm not sure why the bad reviews, we've always had a good experience. If you are expecting a Cadillac on Chevy prices, you'll be disappointed, but if you are realistic, you'll see the value. We have stayed here at least 10 times and would book again because of the price, cleanliness/comfort, and it's pet friendly.
