We were looking for a long-weekend getaway from Houston. This charming and well-appointed home was just right for our family (mom, dad, two teens). The house was clean, maintained, and stocked with everything we could have wanted for a few days away – a perfect home away from home. The house is small, but a perfect size for us and way better than trying to make do with a hotel for a few days. It is updated and clean. They are ready for these “pandemic” times with Lysol spray, wipes, and hand sanitizer. They have liquid hand soap at all the sinks. There is a single bathroom, but it is clean and relatively large. They have plenty of towels, soaps, shampoo, body wash, lotion, etc… if you need.
In the kitchen, they have a Keurig pod coffee maker with available coffee and tea, plus a regular coffee maker. Their kitchen is stocked with plates, glasses, etc.., but we brought disposable stuff and generally ate carry out food from Nacogdoches. They have a supply of Ghirardelli chocolates. Note, there is not a dishwasher.
For entertainment, they have AT&T internet and DirecTV (Note: but no Tennis Channel, which would be a 1 star deduct by me, but 5 additional stars by the rest of my family 😊).
There is a fire pit in the back yard. It was all set up for us with wood and pinecones. We enjoyed looking at the stars in the evening with the fire going and making smores. Since it was so dry, we didn’t want to let the fire just burn out, so we killed it with water. Our apologies for any mess this caused on clean up.
The house is located along a state route, so there is a bit of traffic noise. We travel with noise-makers, so it didn’t both us – YMMV.
I would definitely choose to stay here again the next time we go up to Nacogdoches.
FYI, we went to Cherokee Trace Drive-Thru Safari one day and rode horses at Roselake Ranch the next. Both of those places are highly recommended.
