Bush Cabin on the Blackwood River (Nannup)

WE'RE OFFERING A SPECIAL SUPER SAVER DISCOUNT FOR GUESTS WHO'D LIKE TO STAY WITH US FOR SEVEN NIGHTS OR LONGER!!

Get back to nature in this tranquil, sweet & romantic little bush cabin on the banks of the Blackwood River between Nannup & Balingup. Breathe the country air, watch the wildlife, enjoy sundowners on the veranda overlooking trees & the river, read a book, stroll around the large private property, visit local attractions or nearby towns, go walking, cycling, or just chill out and relax.

SORRY - NO CHILDREN/NO PETS.

The cabin is located in a peaceful & picturesque rural area in Southwest WA. You'll be in the country but just 20 minutes' drive from the closest town of Nannup - a popular tourist destination for nature lovers, cyclists, weekend motorcycle enthusiasts & walkers. Nannup has several cafes, a pub, brewery/restaurant, small supermarket & a few shops (opening hours are limited). When planning your holiday be sure to download the Experience Nannup website in advance!

We provide lots of creature comforts in our cozy cabin - electricity; gas hot water; kingsize bed with doonahs & electric blankets; en-suite bathroom with privacy screen & portable heated towel rail, reverse cycle air conditioner/heater; two electric 'log' fireplace heaters; indoor & outdoor dining areas; microwave; mini-electric oven; air-fryer; gas stovetop (4 burners); electric outdoor BBQ; crockery, cutlery, glassware, cooking utensils; comfy couch/sofa bed in living room; wrap-around scenic verandah with outdoor settings and cocktail bar; birdfeeder with special bird-food; and magical views of the tree-lined valley leading down to the Blackwood River.

Kookaburra Cottage is the ideal spot to unwind & 'disconnect' from the city hassles. PLEASE NOTE THAT MOBILE RECEPTION & WIFI ARE ONLY AVAILABLE IF YOU HAVE TELSTRA & A SMART PHONE WITH 'HOTSPOT' CAPABILITY.

For your entertainment, there is a TV/DVD player, a selection of books, movies, cards & board games; resident alpacas & geese; visiting kangaroos & emus; and beautiful tiny blue wrens and cheeky parrots who come for treats.

The cabin could be called "McCubbin Cottage" as the walls are decorated with some of the best-known bush paintings of this much loved turn-of-the-century artist.

If you're a romantic, for a special treat turn the main lights in the bedroom ON half an hour before you go to bed. When you retire & turn off the lights, look up & see a sparkling night sky!

You'll have access to your cabin & surrounds plus six acres of private wooded river frontage 'common area' which form part of Fern Gulley Retreat. The valley behind the cabin is ideal for a gentle stroll; to watch the visiting wildlife & colourful birds; or to just admire the view from your verandah. When the Blackwood River is up you can go for a dip, enjoy our "Club Med" tree-trunk sundowners setting or maybe even catch a fish!

As we are not on mains water, PLEASE USE THIS PRECIOUS RESOURCE SPARINGLY.

Please don't touch or feed any of the wildlife (other than at the birdfeeder with the special food we've provided for our native parrots & wrens). Thanks!

There is a resident caretaker on-site in case of emergencies but please do not go onto their property unless invited to do so.

We know you'll have a wonderful stay!

Best wishes from your hosts

Loved it!
My husband and loved our stay, great to unplug and be with nature. The cottage was very well equipped and comfortable. There is a great winery right across the road, and Nannup town center is only 13mins away. Fantasic location, we will be back.

Thank you to Leanne, Jan and Kim for hosting us. We enjoyed our stay at Kookaburra Cabin. It had everything you could need. Bathroom & Kitchen were clean. Bed was lovely with nice, crisp, clean sheets. The verandah was our favourite place to hangout and watch the wildlife. Would love to come back in the cooler months when there is more water around. Towns & places around the area were lovely to explore.
