The house was great for our family of 6 adults with 4 bedrooms. Plenty of games and books provided. It is 'rustic', bathrooms are basic and the paintwork a bit patchy, but plenty of cookware provided and washing machine and dryer, as well as a fireplace.
Well set up home in a great location for all that National Park has to offer - Tongariro Crossing; cycle trial rides; skiing.
Clean and tidy with everything that you need for a break away.
A large and well appointed house that had everything to meet our needs. Loved the location for access to Mt. Ruapehu. Everything from check-in to check-out was great. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Highly recommended.
The house was great, we stayed so my husband and brother in law could do the Tongariro Crossing. We all stayed including the kids and there was plenty of room and had everything we needed. John was great allowing a super late checkout for us also. The housr was clean and tidy. Perfect property for our stay and family numbers. Would highly recommend this property
We hired the Bach for our daughter’s wedding. It catered for all the bridesmaids and us. Great living space super showers and the beds were great quality. John had excellent communication we would definitely book this again. PS neighbours were lovely too.
Cozy house with all the gadgets needed for a great stay with a group. We had 6 adults and 6 kids which we piled into one room with the bunk beds. 2 kids fitting on the bottom beds as they are bigger. The bunks could do with an oil as they were quite squeaky but other than that an overall good stay. Thanks!
We stayed here with 2 other families so 6 adults and 6 kids. The house was perfect for what we needed and had a great time. We appreciated the toys and games there that the kids could use. It was also warm and co.fortable. The only issue was that the fireplace didnt seem to have a very good seal and the house got full of fumes when we did use it so we ended up the sticking with the heat pump.
We made a booking for 7 adults , communication was good but there was not shower get , body was in the main bathrooms which is disappointing. We suppose to start tongariro national crossings early morning, there were none tea bags in the kitchen only suger bags. I believe they could have done it better.

Nice Location-Very rustic
This property had a washer and dryer and a great restaurant/bar down the street. It's very rustic. Cleanliness could be improved upon. Shower curtain bottom had mold and kitchenware was not clean. Toiletries was lacking-you may need to bring your own paper products. Kitchen towels/wash cloths were not included as well. The pictures on the w website are enhanced. The property is more rustic than indicated in the pictures.

Disliked: Cleanliness, property conditions & facilities, communication
On the positive side: Our kids enjoyed the DVDs and board games, and the house has beds for lots of people. The kitchen is reasonably well appointed.
Negatives: This is an older property, and has not been well maintained. (The pictures don't provide an accurate impression.) The kitchen was not clean at all, and we had to re-wash everything before using it. There is no outside seating or barbecue area.
The host also does not have anyone nearby to address issues, so make very sure that the number of beds you need made is clearly specified in your booking.
Heat pump in the living area keeps the house warm during our winter stay. Has ample cooking utilities for cooking our own meals. Tons of board games and DVD to keep the children entertained.
Cleanliness could be improved. Very dusty under beds and behind furniture. Window sills were dusty and mouldy. No individual heaters in room, which was a problem for us as the baby was cold sleeping in his cot.
Supermarket few minutes drive from the house was a bonus. Having instruction manuals to work the dishwasher and dryer would be helpful.
This is a lovely accomodation to fit two families. Plently of firewood to use, lots of boardgame to keep the kids busy, the bed I slept was very confort too. Two bathroom with high pressure water, love this. Host have give us a very good information guideline in the folder.
Just one thing that require to remove the rubbish when we leave. This is not very convienent as the rubbish collect centre is not open everyday. So we purchase the paid rubbish bag in four square and get all rubbish packed up and divided. We have to leave this to cleaner to collect and transfer for us. As we have no room on our car, as the collect centre was not open on the day we departure.
Lovely property, perfect for our family group. Great access to the mountains & centrally located in National Park village. Well stocked comfortable house, highly recommend - we’d definitely stay again. Thanks for having us.
It was a nice place to stay. There were a few things a bit of a let down, damp wood, no fire lighters or paper, broken lampshade that was sharp, bedside lamps with no bulbs and power points that seemed not to work at all. The far big bedroom was extremely cold and no heaters provided for when the door was closed. Otherwise, it was a stay.

Bike trails
Perfect location to do Fishers track and the Old Coach Road.
Warm house with and excellent fire.
The location was great for it's proximity to Whakapapa ski field, apart from the trains it was a quiet neighbourhood, with a playground nearby, and plenty of room inside.Unfortunately, the cleanliness of the property let it down, it felt like it could do with a deep clean throughout the house. The dishwasher had a funny smell, there was human hair in the dishbrush (we went and bought our own for the trip), hair and other debris in the cutlery drawer and all the tea towels were smelly and dirty (thankfully there was a washing machine and dryer to clean these with). The wood for the fire was visibly damp, we would recommend buying a box of dry wood (like we did half way through our trip) to get the fire to a decent temp before trying to use the damp wood.
Our family of 6 stayed here for 3 nights. We found it very comfortable with plenty of space for all. The house is very conveniently located for hikes in the area and lovely to come back to the warm fire after being out in the cold and rain. Large garage with plenty of room to park the car and big wood stack. Perfect location for shuttles to Tongariro crossing too which we hope to come back to do one day in better weather conditions. I appreciated all the information supplied on walks and other activities in the local area and maps. There is no outdoor areas or outlooks, it is in a more suburban location than I had imagined but this is fine on cold rainy days if you don't want to be sitting outside anyway. There is a good bar/pub on the corner for a drink, meal, game of pool. Local cafe currently closed though as is Tongariro Chateau to non house guests.
