Stayed here for three nights for Jazz Fest. Hotels looked boring and were expensive, so I decided to be a little adventurous and booked an apartment in this craftsman almost directly beneath the bridge over the Mississippi. If you look at the pictures and study Google Maps like I did, you may be scared off a bit. But it ended up being a perfect home base to explore the city. The rental car company screwed up my reservation, so I had to rely upon Uber the entire trip, but I never had a problem getting a ride into the city. In addition, the Algiers Point Ferry ($2) is either a mile walk or a $10 Uber ride away and it takes you directly into the French Quarter. There are also cool little restaurants and bars around there. The apartment itself was clean, very quiet, and had a nice air conditioner that kept the room very chilly. I slept great in the comfortable queen bed, and was able to use my cell phone hot spot to do some work from the desk table as I looked out the window across the Mississippi. (Apartment has WiFi, too, if you would prefer to use the host's.) All in all, I'm glad I took a leap of faith and decided to stay somewhere a bit off the beaten path. Further, the host was very friendly and communicated everything I needed to know in a rapid manner.
