I’ve stayed here before and my previous room couldn’t have been more different than the one from yesterday’s reservation. The room on the second floor looked beat up (for lack of better words). There were holes in a number of the furnishings and the bathroom door was peeling. The room just looked very outdated and dingy, including the smaller and older model flat screen TV. I also woke up with horrendous allergies. The bed comfortable and at least the bathroom was clean from a sanitary standpoint. Staff was friendly and helpful. Also valet requires 45 mins to bring your car. Overnight parking for less than 12 hrs cost us $81, which is astronomical and they also don’t give you the price in advance. Would consider giving them another shot but if the experience is similar to this one, I may need to consider other options for my work trips.

Awful experience! The Empire is listed as a 4-start hotel but only the elegant lobby lives up to it. The first room we were in looked like a scene out of a cheap horror film- cracked paint everywhere, everything was rundown and dirty, the bathroom smelled musty, and there was even a cockroach to top off the awful experience. We switched to a different room that better but still not anything close to a 4.5 star hotel. Find something else if you can!

Honestly for the price this place was pretty disappointing... especially seeing the pictures and expecting something completely different... our room had NO view what so ever, it was just the building next to us so we had the window closed the whole time. Our bathroom door wouldnt shut, there was chipped paint, no ice bucket, no trash bags. Really not anything too special. For a cheaper price sure it would do the trick. But if I'm paying the same amount as someone else that has a view and has a bathroom door so you can have some sort of privacy, then it's not worth it. Not too mention that they try to push you out as QUICKLY as possible. It says 12pm check out but our key stopped working around 9am. Not to mention this place is OLD so just be mentally prepared. The people at the doors are nice, and they have a rooftop bar which is okay, but the area is good enough if you want to see a show at Lincoln theater. Definitely not if youre looking to see anywhere else in NY. Youre going to have to keep spending money for cabs.

Didn’t like my room at all, for four hundred and sum change a night you would think you’ll get a decent room but sadly no. My AC units was broken and mad loud noise when turned on, the bathroom toilet would make a weird noise as if someone was using it. Terrible I would never recommend this place.

The staff at hotel were amazing and the free water bottle/day was a great perk! Lobby is a perfect place to congregate. Having the rooftop empire hotel lounge on the property is convenient with good happy hour. Bathroom needs to be renovated - door didn’t close completely & just general wear & tear that needs attention. I would definitely recommend the hotel to anyone looking to stay close to Central Park and Theatres. Walkable to Times Square and subway stations as well. Rooms aren’t large and double beds are the standard in 2 bed rooms. We had 4 in our room so it’s a bit tight but doable.
