We've stayed at The Empire Hotel twice in the last 6 mos and we're happy with our stay both times. This time our room had a view overlooking the Lincoln Theatre which was really nice. The staff was very accommodating and assisted me with multiple items I needed answers or assistance with during our stay. We'd stay here again.

While I love the area as we used to live on west 64th the room was a little small and could have used a chair. Overall we had a good experience. The wait time to check in was long.

Pros-The bellhops were on top of you and your luggage. Front desk was always lovely. Rooftop bar was a bonus. Room size was small but expected. Housekeeping was exceptional. Four working elevators was very nice. Water bottles always available at the front desk. They have valet service which we did not know but was able to procure parking ahead of time in a garage just steps away from the hotel. Cons- No coffee or ice readily available. They will bring you a bucket of ice if you call the front desk.

The lobby was beautifully decorated. The rooms need a little bit of updating. We just used the room to sleep so worth the price. The location was accessible and close to some yummy bakeries we went for breakfast. Windows aren’t noise proof, and we know how New Yorkers love their horns

Everything about our stay at the Empire hotel was great! Location couldn’t be better - so close to Central Park and we had a view of the opera house from our room. Room was great and bed was comfy. Bathroom was a little dated but it didn’t bother us. Would definitely stay here again!

Sadly we had cockroaches in our room for two nights in a row. Shower curtain very short so water splashed everywhere when showering. Very noisy outside and inside the hotel, you can hear everything in the next door room. For the cost of the room $400 a night, we should have better facilities and amenities like coffee in the room and water at least. The bathroom door was also eaten up and peeling. Food at the rooftop restaurant was very expensive. Staff great but sadly we didn’t enjoy the hotel much.

Found a hair in the bathroom sink as soon as I arrived. The elevator operator was unpleasant. Hotel is not up to date. Very old TV in the room and it looks like it hasn’t been renovated in a while. A isolated mini fridge was just sitting on the floor in the room. The bar in the lobby was closed and I couldn’t find the rooftop bar. The chairs and desk in the room were showing severe signs of wear and tear. Couldn’t control the room temperature so couldn’t get comfortable.

Empire hotel is clearly a long lasting landmark in NYC. It’s extremely affordable and while it is noticeable in the little things such as the bed or heating unit, all of these things can be overlooked if you want a central, affordable, beautiful hotel for some time in NYC.

This hotel is a dump. Do not stay here. The rooms are falling apart in too many ways to list in a review. Nothing in the room worked as it should. Literally falling apart. Location is the only positive of the hotel. You’ve been warned.
