Gramercy - 3rd Ave
The property is just about 3 stars. Positives: space available in the townhouse is great and location is convenient to walk to the Subway and there is a market/ deli right across the street. Downsides: also location, 3rd Ave is REALLY noisy with a pub below on the ground floor, making the 2 front bedrooms really noisy. There were a few safety issues in that there was a broken tile on the steps right in the middle where you go down to the kitchen, which was both a slipping and tripping hazard. The light over the dining table was low, and overhangs the chairs which caused a bump on the head and the handrail going up the first set of stairs had a break, although still useable. As well as broken tiles, the flush buttons on the upstairs toilets were broken, the carpet and rugs are pretty worn and stained, there are no closets or drawers for storage in the master bedroom and only the third bedroom has a useable closet if you need one. We weren't looking to cook, but renters have access to a hot plate, microwave and toaster oven; no coffee maker but a carafe and kettle were available to make coffee. Not the usual VRBO as the owners' shoes filled the shoe rack at the entrance, and there were personal photos and notes all over the fridge.
Renters are responsible for damage etc. but there was no list or note of previous damage acknowledged so we took pictures and sent a note to record the bigger issues. This property could be fabulous with a little more investment.
