The San Carlos has become our home away from home when in NYC. The staff is always welcoming and professional. The rooms are clean, comfortable and spacious (especially by NYC standards). The hotel is in a great location near a number of good restaurants (Spice Symphony in the lobby is fabulous) and easily walkable from several subway lines. They could use to make some minor repairs (I noticed a number of paint chips, dents and scuffs in our bathroom (Room 908), but that didn't detract from our stay in the least. We look forward to our next stay.

This place is a gem! I can't believe how spacious the room was. We travel with two kids so having extra space makes such a difference and so rare to find in New York city. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location is great. close enough to times square/theaters to walk but far enough to be quiet.

The $40 resort fee is egregious. The bed was nice, the room spacious, the staff very nice. No late check out. Small irritation - there were no USB connection ports anywhere in the room. Many hotels have them now in lamps, clocks etc. The bathroom wallpaper was peeling, doors, walls and furniture dingy. The hotel’s in need of an upgrade/renovation.

Just back from six nights at this hotel. Brilliant location, quiet and safe and great food and drink options nearby. Easily walkable to many big shops and attractions. Staff were great and our special request was met, we had a fabulous room. Big room, dated but very clean and very good housekeeping each day. Would definitely recommend and stay again. Perfect place for a stay in NYC. Clean and comfortable room. Excellent location within walking distance of Times Square, Broadway, Central Park, Grand Central, MoMA, shopping of 5th and many other attractions. This is an older hotel but looks fresh and clean. We would definitely stay here again. Thanks to the friendly and helpful staff for a great stay.
