Secluded Cabin On Peaceful 100+ Acres with hot tub!

Secluded (No WiFi) cabin nestled between the peaks of Doublehead Mountain at an elevation of 4000 ft. overlooking our private1acre stocked pond. Located in North Carolina's High Country and surrounded by 100+ acres of private land perfect for nature lovers and bird watching. There are several miles of hiking trails throughout the property that are perfect for exploring. Wildlife sightings include black bear, whitetail deer, wild turkey and many bird species including Canadian geese. After hiking and exploring build a fire in the fire pit to unwind. Enjoy quiet relaxation but be within 30 miles of a myriad of area attractions which include Grandfather Mountain, Mount Mitchell, Roan Mountain, Tweetsie Railroad, Linville Caverns, Linville Falls & Gorge. Winters enjoy skiing at Beech, Sugar and Hawksnest ski resorts. In the summers enjoy white water rafting, horseback riding, zip lining and many other activities. Whatever season you choose, nowhere else will give you such peace as our unique tranquil private retreat atop Doublehead Mountain!

Perfect mountain getaway
Beautiful and peaceful location with cozy accommodations. Thoroughly enjoyed both the location in one of the most tranquil spots you will find east of the Mississippi. I rarely get a chance to getaway and cannot think of a better place to have been to enjoy that time. Great proximity to Banner Elk and the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Christmas Vacation
It was exactly what my husband and I needed. I gave a 3 star rating for cleanliness because I was being kind. The kitchen and bathrooms were fine but overall the cabin accessories need a thorough dusting. The mattress was one of the best that I’ve experienced away from home and the towels for bathing were very nice and soft. The bathroom was a bit chilly because the heaters weren’t working but we survived. I would definitely go back for another quiet retreat.

Great weekend get-away

Quaint Mountain Getaway
My wife and I couldn't have asked for a better anniversary trip. The location is absolutely stunning, and very secluded. The drive just to get to the cabin is beautiful. We loved getting out on the pond in the john boat. Jim and Diana were extremely helpful and responsive. The cabin was well stocked, clean, and we appreciated the nice touch of the care package basket. It was nice to have something to snack on after a day on the road. There's so many different things to do within a 30 min to 1 hr drive of the cabin, or just stay on site and enjoy being disconnected. Look forward to staying again one day!

This is my favorite mountain retreat we’ve stayed at yet. It is isolated, quiet, beautiful, clean, and comfortable. The water is good, the couches are comfortable, and it is heaven. We arrived during a rain storm, and the approach was a little intimidating, but four wheel drive took care of it just fine. The hiking trails are beautiful and make for the best day. Thanks!

An ideal private retreat
The peace and solitude of this homestead were exactly what I needed. The dated decor was surprising, but the view from the porch, wonderful hot tub, access to the pond and land, and privacy were absolutely amazing. And that hill up the mountain was no joke! Thank you for a great getaway.

Best vacation!
We stayed this past weekend at this 100acre property and it was so amazing. The property is hard to get to without a 4wheel drive so I do suggest that to anyone planning on coming here. We had a RAV4, it wasn’t 4wheel drive and it had just rained so we weren’t able to make it up the gravel but the owner was very helpful and Mrs Angie came to save the day! She was kind enough to take us and our stuff up the road to the property and came back Sunday and picked us up. She is a true life saver. We enjoyed walking all around the property, fishing, spending time in the jacuzzi, and just simply sitting on the porch listening to nature. If you are looking to just get away from people and just be with nature, this is the place for you! We will absolutely be making this a reoccurring vacation spot! Thank you so much for being so helpful and Mrs. Angie, I can’t say thank you enough! You saved our trip!

Fantastic Mountain Getaway
Myself and my husband have stayed here twice! Once in the Winter and again in the Summer. It's becoming one of our favorite places to go and UNPLUG. We fished the pond, walked the trails, had a bonfire (roasted hot dogs of course), and enjoyed the quiet. We have an AWD vehicle and the drive up the mountain is no problem. You aren't too far away from Banner Elk, Sugar Mountain, Lineville Falls Winery, and other fun places. Although, you could just as easily stay at the cabin and enjoy it there! We'll be coming back for another stay for sure.

Quiet Cozy Clean
We had an absolutely amazing time at Doublehead Mountain Retreat! The cabin was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The hot tub was great! My seven year old and my husband went fishing everyday and my seven year old caught her first fish! We have AT&T and we had one to two bars of service the whole stay. Also the recommendation for 4 wheel drive in the listing is really more of a necessity. We made it without but it was a very close call and we’ll definitely use a different vehicle if we come back. Which we probably will! Our stay was wonderful and I can’t recommend it enough!

Fairly secluded, quaint location for a weekend!
As per the owners instructions, a 4WD is useful on making the climb to the property. Instructions are on point. House itself is clean and warm and welcoming. As others have advised, not as private as you may think though as three four wheelers came screaming within ten feet of the front porch Saturday afternoon toting a barking dog along and screaming. Another thing to note is that they currently have a rodent issue, which I believe they’re trying to resolve. All in all, we would go back again for the location, just not expect as much privacy and ask about the rodent problem beforehand.

The property was beautiful. The power went out one night and James was quick to help and call Duke. Even though the power was out for about a day there was plenty of things to do and lanterns and flashlights for the evening. The driveway was not a scary as I anticipated, however I think it was better to be prepared for a difficult road.

We absolutely loved this rental! The house was cozy and inviting with lots of room. The front porch, hot tub, and fire pit were great for relaxing. We took our chairs to the pond for some relaxing as well after lots of hiking around the property and nearby parks. It was a wonderful place for our dog. Details for check-in were very clear and detailed which made it all so easy. The host was great with responding to questions. The place is very private which we loved. The mile long climb to the property was a bit challenging. A four wheel drive or all wheel drive would definitely be helpful. I have front wheel drive and made it, but I had to get after it. I would definitely love to stay again at this peaceful, relaxing place.

Communication w owner throughout was quick and easy. This is a secluded spot, bring your 4 wheel drive! So much fun at the pond and exploring the trails.
