"Hotel was fine. Comfy beds decor was a bit stark. Rented a suite with a kitchen but it had no plates or silverware or anything. Staff was very kind and helpful. "

"10 day visit around Norway staying in different places. Worst bathroom on trip. Shower was not built in, with only a shower curtain, which did not prevent water flooding the bathroom. Best breakfast on trip. The buffet was excellent, with a good variety of hot and cold food. Good, central location and relaxed atmosphere"

"The hotel was in a good location. The rooms were clean and of a good size (family room). The sofa bed was acceptable for a child but Iess so for an adult, as expected. The breakfast was very good, plenty of options in the buffet and one of the staff even offered to make fresh pancakes for the kids, which was very well received. "Very average. Couldn't find a parking space when I arrived. Dinner finishes at 20:00, obviously this is too early. Shower had mould in it. Breakfast was nothing special, first Hotel I have ever stayed at with no black tea? On the plus side the bed was clean and comfortable. "

"Absolutely enjoyed 10 days on this historic property! The property is adjacent to the fortress and the hotel is a converted Soldiers barracks. A sense of tranquility and peacefulness surrounds you when you walk around the property. The property is well maintained and oversees the city of Halden. The staff made my family feel like home. "Amal is a good location for exploring the lakes. There a couple of ok places to eat out, but not as many as I'd have liked. Definitely a base rather than a location. Hotel is in an older building and decorated sympathetically. Our room had plenty of space, but no tea or coffee making facilities."

"Trevligt litet hotell, självbetjäning av frukost vilket kan vara värt att veta då det är lite enklare och kanske inte prisvärd jämfört med andra, det låg dock rätt för oss. Restaurang i huset bredvid som stänger redan 17 så vill man äta behöver du komma senast 16.30. Det är en o en halv mil till andra restauranger affärer så viktigt att ha koll på. Tyst och lantligt, fräscht badrum och trevlig interiör. Säng för mjuk för mig. Parkering ingår. "

"These are nice little cottages with some beautiful scenery. You check in at the hotel/restaurant, then drive up the hill to the cottages. They are nicely equipped with a kitchenette, so you can have a nice meal overlooking the lake. The lady at the front desk was very nice and helpful."

"Her finner du alt du trenger av utstyr til et behagelig opphold. God plass både inne og ute. Bortsett fra et par gårder og flere hytter i feltet, er du nesten i ødemarken. Et godt stykke innover fra hovedveien til Kornsjø, men veldig bra grusvei helt fram. GPS leder deg så og si til døra. Badevann og tjern i nærheten og veier og stier for lange turer. "Absolutely enjoyed 10 days on this historic property! The property is adjacent to the fortress and the hotel is a converted Soldiers barracks. A sense of tranquility and peacefulness surrounds you when you walk around the property. The property is well maintained and oversees the city of Halden. The staff made my family feel like home. The staff were professional and kind; they made us feel welcomed. The staff checked on our family when we were off the property for over 24 hours to ensure we were ok and safe. The daily breakfast buffet was delicious with an array of local, organic, cold and hot items. The dining area is clean and have the best lasagna on their dinner menu. We plan to return to Norway and plan to return to the Fredriksten! "
