They didn’t want to give me a receipt, even though I paid for my stay directly. Also, for some reason, the cleaning lady threw away my toothbrush and razor, and she denied it later.

Staff is very helpful and friendly, although not all trained well. Location wonderful. Business center (computer, printer) non-existent. Breakfast okay. Beds good. Building condition tired. Some plumbing issues. Reasonable value for money.

Tired hotel

After 2 nights, we had to find another hotel due to nasty chemical fumes that drifted around the corridors and entered our room. The staff responded by leaving an air freshener in the bathroom. The hotel refused to give us a refund for the remaining 4 nights!!

The Diplomat has my seal of approval!

I arrived early morning and for a percentage of my night rate, the room was made available at 6am. Friendly welcome, spacious rooms, excellent location, very fast wifi. I stayed there for a total of one week and had a standard and a junior suite, both very good rooms, but I liked more the standard as it had a better view and the heating system was much better (the suite was a bit too cold in the evenings). Some staff don't speak English which makes it hard even with basic requests like room service - just be patient and repeat the information a few times to make sure they got the order right. when breakfast was at the breakfast room in level 3 it was much better, with full continental and cooked items, but due to low occupancy sometimes they moved breakfast to the bar in ground floor and not all items were available. I wanted to do some tours in Kazakhstan and the travel agency the hotel recommended was great! The local hotels normally offer to help with the registration of foreign guests with the immigration, but they didn't offer me, and I only found out about that later. The immigration does not charge for this service but this hotel does, not really a nice thing to do considering there is no cost for the registration.

A warm and friendly refuge from the snow !

Very convenient for many of the main attractions of Astana. Welcoming staff and excellent food. (I stayed for 3 days half board with extensive buffet breakfast and lunch included). Close to two bus stops for services to all parts of the city and one of the main shopping centres was within easy walking distance. I would also thoroughly recommend the lobby bar with its relaxed atmosphere and talented pianist.

Good hotel in good location

Reasonably priced hotel in central location (near Bayterek tower) with spacious rooms and good service. Good choice of breakfast with made to order omelettes and good restaurants within the hotel. The fitness center and spa is actually a privately operated business located in a building right behind the hotel and to which hotel guests have complimentary access: I found it excellent. Good wifi in the rooms and lobby.

Best location in Astana

The hotel is in a prime location, close to the main touristic attractions and government buildings. A new and very convenient shopping center is only two blocks from the hotel. The staff members are cordial, helpful and speak English reasonably well. Both the restaurant in the mezzanine level and the cafe close to the lobby are nice and cozy. The outside hotel aspect is very beautiful. The main critique is the room and bathroom. They are not horrible, but they need urgent improvements.

A deux pas de la Tour Bayterek

L'hôtel est situé au centre de la ville moderne. La Tour Bayterek est à une centaine de mètres et visible depuis certaines chambres. Néanmoins, le personnel maitrise assez mal l'anglais ou, d'une manière générale, une autre langue que le russe ou le kazakh. A promité, se trouve également une station de bus qui permet ainsi de se déplacer facilement en ville. Il est à noter que l'hôtel dispose d'un spa situé dans un bâtiment annexe avec piscine, sauna et centre de remise en forme dont l'accès est gratuit pour les clients de l'hôtel. Cependant, d'une manière générale, le prix de la chambre pratiqué apparaît élevé en se rapportant aux standards européens.

Diplomat has great Location , but the rest brings memories of communist Soviet Inturist hotels. Price/quality ratio due to Expo is very low

Just ok

The room and hotel were fine, but I had a few problems. For one thing, when I checked out I learned that I would be charged an extra 50% for my first night because I had checked in early. I was not told there would be a charge for that during check-in. That was an unpleasant surprise. I had a few other issues as well. The first night the staff called me and woke me up at 1:00 am to say there was some sort of problem. When the guy knocked on me door, he realized they called the wrong person. And on the last night my room filled with thick smoke through the ventilation. I had assumed my room was non-smoking, but perhaps that was never clarified. If all that hadn't happened, it would have been fine. The room was nice, breakfast was decent, and the location is great.

Very good location, good for business

The hotel is clean and very convenient for business travelers, I would not recommend it for families. Beds are not comfy, the furniture is very simple, but practical.
