"Not the first time I had stayed in "Piilo Pirtti", meaning "Hidden Cottage" in the Finnish Language. The cottage makes you feel like being in a warm cozy home where everting is clean and in its place. From the warm fireplace if the evening turns a bit chilly'; to watching kangaroos (yes they are wild) resting, feeding or the younger adult males jousting; to the many different birds which fly in looking for a nut or seed. A place where you can relax after catching your "trout" - fly fishing or trolling (mine was a brown on fly); or a day spent in the nearby ski slopes, and returning to your collective reminiscing on how your day was in the afterglow of the dying embers in the fireplace, and your favorite drink shared with family and friends. My second time will not be the last - the third time is already in the making. My family included my wife (from the Philippines); my sister (from Canberra) and my brother (from Salamander Bay, NSW). These are not just words for ad copy. They started in the mid-1960s my first visit to Anglers Reach when there was nothing more than a dirt track, many rabbits; a few kangaroos where I have stayed in a number of cottages over the years. But, for me there is only one "Piilo Pirtti" that draws me back for the charm, ambience, like my Grandmother's warm hug, the cottage draws me back for more. My wife and I stayed from 24/11 to 3/12/ 2024 and extended that by another 2 days - I was happy to share my birthday with family and the Hidden Cottage."

"Lovely accommodation in Tumbarumba with a comfortable bed. Limited mini bar was a nice touch and we really appreciated the generous bottle of real milk for our cuppas. The main attraction for us, was to have a restaurant on site. The quality of food and service surprised us and we had an amazing meal accompanied by a lovely local wine. The ambiance of the restaurant was lovely and very attentive staff. Highly recommend."

"Great place to stay if heading to Selwyn snowfields. Property has all the amenities one would need for a comfortable stay (wash and dryer), wifi, loads of kitchen appliances, towels. What makes this place a 5/5 is the thoughtfulness in providing plenty of paper hand towels, tea towels, bath towels, toilet paper and fire starter and matches for fireplace. Other properties only provide the bare minimum. Beds are so comfortable, check in was a breeze. Minor suggestion to add more pans in various sizes eg small ones for cooking eggs, grill racks and baking pans. "
