The ultimate secluded Holiday Cottage

Tigh Beg Croft self catering holiday cottage has to be one of the ultimate secluded Highland hideaways - there are no garden fences, only the open land and the sea to keep you in and amused. This classic 'get away from it all' location near Oban in Argyll is set in some fifty acres of informal hill land and shore line giving you some spectacular walking country.

The croft and this part of the coastline were used in the 1968 filming of 'Ring of Bright Water' and more recently in the final scenes of 'Enigma', based on the Robert Harris thriller.
We feel very privileged to be able to offer Tigh Beg Croft as a holiday cottage and short break destination to enable our guests to totally unwind and relax. The croft has been recently renovated and completely refurbished to give you all the home comforts you would expect, making a great holiday destination at any time of year.

This special place is quietly situated at the sea entrance to Loch Feochan, with spectacular views down the 'Firth of Lorn', just three miles further down the glen from Lagnakeil lodges and yet only six miles from Oban with all its quality amenities, shops and restaurants.

Access is by a private track road of about one half miles with the final approach over unsurfaced track - perfect for four wheel drive, but not essential! no low profile cars though. You can also access Tigh Beg by sea.

A country pub is situated further up the glen offering fine home cooked food and ales with informal music nights during the season.

Secluded luxury cottage
Upon arrival at the gates, a herd of deer greeted us. The cottage, the appointments, the location, the tranquility did not disappoint. As birdwatchers, we enjoyed morning walks with various birdsongs. We would definitely return.

Escape on Lochside
If you like to be isolated and don’t mind a bit of a rough ride on a road/track to access the isolation then this is the place to go. We loved it bringing our kayaks with us to enjoy the water. Fantastic place!

Off the grid and beautiful
Be prepared for a very steady drive to get to the cottage, we luckily had a 4x4 which made it easier as the track is pretty bumpy in places. You go through 3 gates to get to the cottage and then park up at the top of track leading to the cottage. If it’s raining and you have a lot of luggage bring something to cover your bags as you put them into the cart to take them down. You’ll pay for your electricity so take some cash, it’s not a fortune so it’s worth keeping the heaters on and the fire stoked, Wood is available and charged at a reasonable daily rate. Take plenty of food if you are staying for a few days as the drive back to Oban is not easy. The Barn (about a mile away) is lovely and welcoming and does simple food which was great. Overall an amazing location and a well thought out cottage.

You and nature - nothing else
It's a wonderful cottage if you are looking for a place away from the hustle of your everday life. Quiet, well equipped and yet only a 15 minute drive away from Oban. We especially enjoyed walking directly from the house along the coast on a somewhat hidden path (not easy, but doable). One tiny suggestion though to the owner: Given the price during the main season I wouldn't ask for an extra charge for firewood.
