"The historic property is unique and lovely. Only problem was the lack of air conditioning in our room. We picked the place in part for its AC which is what the Hotels.com profile showed. It was a hot day when we arrived so we were disappointed to find no AC. Plus there are no screens on the Windows and biting mosquitos so we had to close the windows, making for an uncomfortable stay. Had we known there was no AC we would have stayed elsewhere."

"The property is beautiful and straddles the Douro River. The roads are not really walkable - narrow, no sidewalks. The breakfast was great. The restaurants lunch and dinner was mediocre. The restaurant did face the beautiful Douro River and had tremendous views. The rooms were nice but not special. "
