About this property

Oxford. C16th Cottage In Courtyard Setting. Garden. Parking. Free Wifi.

Set in the courtyard of our own home, but completely separate and private, Gadbury Cottage is cosy and very comfortable whether your choice is for a winter or summer break. It offers an ideal location to discover Oxford and the nearby attractions of Oxford City, Blenheim Palace, Shotover Park, Waterperry Gardens, Otmoor nature reserve, the Chilterns and Cotswolds Hills. Wheatley has all the facilities to meet your immediate needs - 2 foodstores, baker, coffee shop, post office, bank and choice of restaurants and pubs. The village has a long history through it's location on the main coaching route from London to Oxford - it was once descibed as the most agreeable stopping place between Beaconsfield and Woodstock. Today it's transport links are still excellent being just 2 miles from the Thornhills Park and Ride and a similar distance from the M40. There are regular bus services to Oxford and to Haddenham/Thame train station. Central London is c53 miles and Heathrow c45 miles, both have good public transport links.

Short stay in Wheatley
This was the perfect little cottage for us. It had what we needed and we were very comfortable. It’s was very walkable and had a bus nearby. People were very friendly. If we were to return to the area, we would look to stay here.

Great Little Cottage
If you want to visit Oxford, then this cottage is excellently located. You can catch the bus in to the city from the village, or the park and ride bus terminal is close by. The cottage is quiet and comfortable. Note that the double bedroom is on a mezzanine floor, so is open to the living space. The kitchen area is compact, but has all you need as long as you're not wanting to cook anything too ambitious. There is a Smart TV, so you have access to streaming services. We enjoyed our stay thank you.

Delightful and Charming
Was a wonderful find and the best choice in a old quiet town setting, but with easy access to all the conveniences- bus to Oxford, supermarket, great pub, main roads, etc. Jenny was so pleasant and accommodating before and during our stay, although we only met through our chats. Joseph was a very nice greeting and showed us where to park and walk to the bus stops the morning we arrived. All in all we enjoyed our stay and will definitely recommend to our friends and family.

Lovely cottage in a beautiful village
We had a fantastic stay in this lovely cottage. The location was perfect for us. Just a 30 minute bus ride into Oxford City Centre and just a short drive from Blenheim Palace. It is a very small cottage but was perfect for us. Ideal for couples or a couple with one child. There are some lovely walks right on your doorstep and we found the locals very friendly. We would definitely go back.

Excellent traditional cottage so close to pubs etc and Oxford!
Everything was as expected it was cosy and convenient, near several pubs and shops and just a half hour bus ride into Oxford. We also used it as a base for Bicester, the British Motor Museum and the Aston Heritage trust! So much to see in Oxford and surrounds and this is a great place to stay! Very good value for money

Charming cottage with easy access to public transportation.
This historic cottage was just what I was looking for: charming setting, clean home, friendly and responsive host, and easy access to restaurants and pubs nearby as well as public transportation. We toured the surrounding area (Oxford, Avebury, Cotswalds) and loved returning to our quiet little house at the end of the day. Wheatley was a great village. Thank you Jenny for being so accommodating and satisfying our specific needs!

What I was looking for
It had many aspects that made staying inside comfortable and it had everything I was looking for which was listed. I think the pricing for all the stuff we were given is pretty good too. The host was also great at timely communication to make sure my stay was comfortable.

Modernised, traditional property
The property is well presented and maintained. It is not large. I was staying alone but feel it would be cramped with 3 adults but fine for a couple or couple with child. The area is very nice with good local shops within walking distance. There is a very good bus service to Oxford - every 10 mins or so and this runs well into the evening so an evening in Oxford would be possible. The local Waterperry Gardens are also worth a visit.
