"One thing I learned after staying at this hotel was to not judge a book by its cover. Upon pulling up to the hotel, I was concerned. First, it is in a somewhat desolate area with very little around. Secondly, the sign off the highway looks as though a bomb went off in it. Lastly, the photograph on Expedia was not a good representation of what the actual exterior looks like. At night, the sign on the building has a lot of the lights burned out and overall, was not very inviting. We ended up...

"We had the very best weekend here! So much so, that my kids are convinced that we need to live in a Tiny House and my fiancé is shopping for one haha! The location is perfect, we had everything we could have possibly needed, the hosts are the sweetest and sooo helpful and responsive! Communicating with them was an absolute delight. We plan on staying here annually with our children and we cannot wait for our next stay!"

"This property is in a quiet, secluded area with plenty of property to explore and enjoy family time. The house is perfectly appointed, very clean and has rustic charm with all the modern amenities. The coffee nook was a nice touch as well. The location is in the middle of all the activities we participated in, hiking, zip lining, swimming, antique shopping and wine tasting. I recommend this house and location for a trip to southern Illinois."

"This cabin is adorable and had all the amenities of home. It was very clean and the property itself was beautiful. It was very quiet, and was perfect for a small family. We opted to sleep on the pullout couch as the loft beds required climbing a steep ladder. This wouldn't be practical trying to get to bathroom at night. Please know the cabin is located next to another home, but we never saw anyone at that home while we were there. It is a very remote location if you want seclusion."

"The airstream was a great stay, the owner really has made it easy for a couple to relax without bringing a ton of stuff. Plenty of linens, towels, and kitchen items. We brought food and made almost all of our meals here. The fire pit was lovely and we had a fire going each night. Close to town (Goreville) which had gas/groceries and Whiffleboy's Pizza (highly recommended...try the Buffalo!). About an hour's drive from Garden of the Gods along a lovely country route. "Overall, this was a nice place to stay. The lake is very nice and we had access to a beach and a dock. The only thing that we felt was missing was a grill. There was a fire pit outside with a grate held up with bricks, which was what we were told we could use as a bbq grill, but I think we were expecting an actual grill. Still, overall everything was great."

"Host is wonderful and a great communicator! Everything you need is there just bring your food and enjoy. Peaceful and quiet, lake is a short walk or drive depending where on the lake you want to be. Camper is very clean and well stocked. Lots of games or just sit by the fire pit and listen to nature. Great for relaxing or you can take a beautiful short drive to hiking, swimming, rent a boat for the day, or just take a walk around down the lane of the property. We will be back again! "

"This little cabin is tucked into a hillside and is very cute. It was extremely clean and had all the amenities of home, down to the salt and pepper. This was a test run mostly for our dog and worked out well. We did not use the hot tub, so I cannot comment on that, but I'm sure it would have been amazing. It is in a residential area very near Lake Egypt and the road was busy at times, but all the people in the area seemed very friendly and waved as they drove by. So fun! The cabin is close...
