Where should I begin? This place was spectacular - I wish I could award more than 5 stars. We wanted a nice, peaceful location in rural Italy to relax a bit during our 2 week honeymoon, and this was exactly the spot we had in mind. Gunilla (the owner) was very responsive and helpful in providing advice on activities in Abruzzo, and Craig was also helpful in meeting us at the villa and providing us with additional information. The villa itself is beautiful - secluded with a patio overlooking the mountains of Abruzzo, nice grill, multiple chimneys, great kitchen and living area, spacious bedrooms and bathrooms. Unfortunately, it wasn't warm enough to use the pool, but we spent hours just sitting on the patio enjoying the view of the mountains and surrounding olive groves during the day, at sunset, and at night in front of a roaring fire. Palmoli, the nearest small town, was interesting to explore, as were Vasto, Termoli, and Santo Stefano di Sessiano (amazing!!). We took a day trip to Trivento, which is a beautiful historic mountaintop town in Molise. Craig booked a reservation for us for a Sunday afternoon lunch at a local agriturismo, which served us an unbelievably delicious Abruzzo lunch. Finally, we met the next-door farmers, Giuseppe and Evelina, who were a pleasure to interact with - even though they didn't speak English and we don't speak Italian! We purchased wine, olive oil, vegetables, eggs, and lamb from them - all fresh from their farm - they even invited us into their house for coffee and pastries. We felt so at home in this villa and area and would love to visit again someday.
