The hotel is located in a convenient location in Casco Viejo. Staff were friendly and the breakfast was delicious. Rooms are quite small but it was perfect for us.

The location is very good. The staff was pleasant and the breakfast was good. On the negative side they should put new locks on the guests doors and I didn't like the temperature of the shower changing from warm to cold every few minutes.

Great location in the heart of Casco viejo

The location is great to be in the heart of Casco Viejo. The hotel next door has a club on the roof, so bring a sound machine if you are a light sleeper.

Good hotel

Baluarte is a nice hotel with a great location. Room with balcony is much nicer, but instead a lot of disturbing noise from the neighbor hotel (Tantalo) some nights.

Great location in the old town area. Easy walking to sites and museums. We had a balcony room and loved it! Very clean and comfortable and great staff! Lots of restaurants close by. Breakfast (eggs, sausage, fruit, toast, juice, etc.) was awesome! We would definitely stay here again!

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. If you are someone who needs it to be quiet to sleep then staying in this area is not for you. I however, do not mind it and had a really good night sleep. The staff were really friendly, check in was easy, the beds were comfortable and it is in a great location. A nice touch would have been a kettle to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee on the balcony. The breakfast was made to order from a select menu and was tasty. I would stay here again.

While it was very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful,the room was quite small and cramped and my window opened onto a small lobby directly opposite another room. I hadnt noticed that breakfast is included so i went out but my friends said it was fine. .The location is perfect.

Will stay again!

What a hidden gem in a beautiful and historic location. The price was incredibly reasonable, and I opted for an inner room which kept the noise level to zero. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is included and so is coffee virtually 24/7. And they will answer any WhatsApp questions within minutes (not hours or days like some hotels). Highly recommend!

Hotel was very cute and well maintained! Loved the balcony in my room—great view of the old town corridors! The area around the hotel gets super noisy at night (particularly on weekends) with party music and honking from constant traffic. Pack some earplugs or headphones if you don’t plan on being out until 2am. Other than the noise, the place was great!

Location and value is the strongest factor, with staff a close second. Breakfast was fresh, but starts at 0730, a factor on excursion planning. No actual restaurant, besides hot breakfast. This place is a great base of operations, not a resort to lounge at. Bring your own shampoo, lotion, etc...no frills here; bathroom walls do not reach the ceiling, steam and sound move freely. Also, balcony is not guaranteed, regardless of 3rd party listings. Will choose again, but bring my own comforts.

Very nice staff and lobby area. However the rooms are far from being "boutique". Boutique hotels are known for their attention to details. Absolutely no amenities. Four white walls and an open face closet with 5 wire hangers. The bathroom didn't even a towel hook or a place to put my toiletries. I had to put my towel and clothes on the toilet seat so I could reach for them.

Bare bones, but okay considering the price.

You do get what you pay for. This place had a decent bed, AC, and a shower. That is really it. We did have some issues getting towels and the shower was not clean, but for the price in the neighborhood, it still worked out fine. Think of it as a two star type of property. If you don't plan on spending any time in your room other than sleep, it will still work out ok for you.
