This is a family owned and loved cabin. We enjoy spending time with our family here as often as we can. We take advantage of all that the lake and the cabin offer to help shake off the stress of BCL (big city life). We enjoy hunting, hiking, ATVing, you name it - it's all waiting for us out our front (and back) door.  The hot tub is the owners but you as a guest are more than welcome to use.

The main floor features giant posts and beams and an oversized stone fireplace. It definitely feels like a log cabin in the woods that you wouldn't mind getting stranded in - especially with someone you love. The double sized living room is nicely furnished with several big comfy couches, a Smart TV and soundbar and a full size table for meals or games. One big room with two distinct areas makes it ideal for evenings at home with the family.
Especially because it is joined in the open by an extra large kitchen fully stocked with cooking utensils and vessels, limited spices, linens, cleaning supplies (plus dishwasher) and china service for 10.
You are going to want to cook and bake forever when you get into this kitchen. It has a brand spanking new stove and ceramic cooktop. Gorgeous and so fun to use. Big big island in the center of the room - perfect for making cookies. On the other side of the island is a formal dining table with 6 chairs. This is a big kitchen. It is not crowded at all.
The kitchen has a toaster, a drip coffee maker (we have filters), a griddle, every pot and/or pan you will need as well as cooking utensils including pizza cutter, wine opener, etc. One of the kitchen drawers is dedicated to BBQ utensils for the gas grill just off the kitchen (we have propane).
Panguitch Lake, 8,209′ lies approximately 30 miles west of Bryce Canyon National Park smack in the middle of Dixie National Forest. “Big Fish” is the English name for Panguitch which comes from the Paiute (Native American) language. Our lake and waterways are famous for plenty of panguitch.
Wildlife abounds in this, some of the most remote forest land in the continental United States.
• Panguitch has gas stations, a grocery store and a liquor store (both closed on Sunday), a Family Dollar, restaurants (no bars).
• It is strongly recommended that all of the groceries and provisions for your trip are picked up in Cedar City before you come up the mountain. Once you get here, you will be almost off-grid with the following exceptions.
• ❉Cabin has wi-fi and local phone service but no cell phone coverage.
• ❉Fire station (on way to cabin from Highway 143) has cell phone service, a Wi-Fi hot spot and a bench from which to enjoy both. Stop in and say Hi to Chief Dave Etter.
Panguitch Lake is a strong strategical location from which to enjoy all of the following day trips:
Bryce Canyon National Park - 1 hour
Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument - 1.5 hours
Zion National Park - 2.5 hours (***Itinerary tip: Hit this one on your way up. It's practically on the way.***)

Great place in the mountains to escape the heat
The Bison is a nice cabin in a beautiful location near Panguitch Lake, which has excellent fishing. It’s also close to Cedar Breaks, Bryce, and more. It’s a perfect getaway to escape the summer heat down in lower elevations. Our family had a lot of fun here and we can see ourselves potentially coming back in the future. The property company was responsive and the owner called to give helpful instructions on a few items. All in all, it was a great experience. There were a few things (common amenities) missing in the kitchen but we got by. Highly recommend!

Everything was as advertised. Evening was a quiet time around a campfire with deer watching us from closeby. The skies are beautiful and a perfect place for star gazing. The cabin was spacious and accommodating.

Family fishing trip
I visited this summer with my husband, 3 children, nephew, and parents. We had a wonderful time staying at this beautiful cabin. It was spacious and clean. The deer really did come right down to the cabin everyday and at one point one was within 10 feet of my father while he was outside. I do have a couple things to say for future visitors. It is noted that the cabin comes with a drip coffee maker and that you should be sure to bring your own filters. I would amend that to say size 4 cone filters would be recommended as opposed to standard filters. Be sure to bring hand soap, that is not provided. Luckily I always pack some, so maybe that’s just a personal preference. Lastly, be very careful on the stairs. Just about 3-4 steps up the inside of the step is very narrow. Makes sense, it slightly curves. However, being that this is the side of the stair with the banister you will likely be walking on this side. My father slipped off this step multiple times while coming down and had he not been holding the banister he probably would have busted his butt. So, just be aware of descend carefully. We look forward to returning to Panguitch again in the future and will definitely be checking to see if this cabin is available again.

Tranquility at its’ Finest
This was such a beautiful property and the perfect place to hold a traditional Christmas for us. Everything was extremely clean and tidy. While we came prepared with cooking ware, the cabin had everything to offer and more. It truly was picturesque. The owners took time to decorate it for Christmas and our children had such a wonderful time sleeping in front of the fireplace and by the giant Christmas tree. We were able to sled on the property and play in the snow. The owners checked in with us after our check-in and we’re very helpful and polite. The go tub was an added perk that all of us were able to enjoy. I’ve never slept better on vacation and it was hard to leave! The biggest complaint we had was that we didn’t get to stay longer due to work. A few notes: Chain-up! It drops well below zero in this area and black ice and snow make it difficult to get down the less-driven roads even with 4WD. Bring firewood. We thought we had brought enough but ran out the second day. The fireplace is awesome and has a blower on it to help heat the house. Please note, the owner heated the house prior to our arrival and there is propane. Pack groceries for the amount of time you are there as there is no open store nearby. We overpacked snacks and food so we were fine but in the event that an unexpected storm comes just be prepared. It was a phenomenal cabin and we hope to rebook again. It’s close enough to Brian Head, Duck Creek and the Cedar Breaks but in a tranquil location. We highly recommend this location.

Great time at Panguitch Lake
Fun cabin! Took the family here for a summer getaway to get some fishing in. CONS: - Smart TV remote was nowhere to be found, TV couldn’t be operated. I emailed and texted, was told that they were going to promptly figure it out, but never heard back. We were only there for a couple nights, so no big deal. And of course we found the remote buried in the old couch as we were cleaning up before we left. Previous renters must’ve lost it in the couch and the cleaning crew didn’t find it. - Minor issue in a cabin, but the main couch was old and saggy. We got used to it! PROS - Balcony views of a meadow (and some other cabins), beautiful scenery! - Hot tub bubbly and ready - Short drive from the lake - Deer all around us (at beginning of August anyway) - Easy entry system, rules clearly in place - Personal LAN line call from owner when we got there, answered any questions - Wi-Fi’s not too bad. The wireless router is right in the room with the king bed, so if that’s going to be you - bonus!

Disappointed.. very dirty
The house is nicely appointed for a family gathering. The owner called upon our arrival to welcome us and advise on a few usage procedures. The owner is not the property manager... The house was very dirty... spider webs all over the exterior and very heavy on inside windows and higher reaching areas. There were rodent droppings on the stove, behind the toaster on the counter and in the corners of the bathroom floor. There were discarded panties under bed in lower bedroom and dirty socks under the bathroom sink. There was Crumbs and food debries on night stand tables and most surfaces in the kitchen. A comforter in the laundry hamper covered with dog hair. The refrigerator and freezer were dirty inside. There was dog hair on all the bedding and blankets and the couches and chairs in living room. (the sheets were clean on the beds). Bottom line, our party had to conduct a cursory cleaning of the house prior to making ourselves at home. I am very disappointed that I had to pay a cleaning fee and extremely high management fee when It's clear that the cleaning and management is lacking. Sorry I had to write this as it really is not my style.

Panguich Lake cabin rental
I guess we expected a little more remote location. The cabin is among many and not much privacy. The exterior was full of cobwebs in every nook and cranny and the interior had dead flies in the window seals. The covered porches were extremely dirty. I know we're in the mountains but have stayed at many cabins to compare to and it just needed some exterior cleaning. Upon entry the first impression was it was spacious and really cute. As the day went by we all noticed that we had dog hair on us. It says 'NO PETS' but obviously someone snuck one in. (not the owners fault)- also they should look into using a different cleaning service. They should have vacuumed couches and taken care of that issue. The half bath wasn't clean at all. The beds are hard as a rock so bring your own blow up matresses. We had to sleep in the couches. There is no air conditioning so plan on running the fans and opening all the windows at night. Maybe we are just 'Cabin Snobs" after renting 4 cabins previously that were so nice and clean to compare to, this one is due for a good deep clean. (Not the owners fault)- I'd recommend renting only if they find a different cleaning service.

Amazing house, architecturally. It is very close to the lake and a great little market. Burger Barn is well worth two visits (next to market). The house lacks entertainment. While there is a TV, it's only Roku and optional free channels were not provided a code for. There is only a single TV in the living room, not in bedrooms. There is no cellular, and wifi is a little weak. One streaming at a time (buffers a lot). Cooking is limited to only the stove (not the flat griddle as advertised). Pots and pans are old. Same with utensils. Though functional. Couches are also old and sunk in. Two main beds were ok, but third room was lacking a quality setup. Overall it's a great and comfortable place to stay, but could use some upgrades given it's price (and associated fees).

Wonderful home!
This house was roomy and comfortable for our group of seven adults. It was beautiful inside snd had plenty of porch space. The beds were comfortable, as were the couches. The management company answered any questions we had. The owner also called us to check on us a couple of times. If we ever come back to the area, we would definitely stay here again.

Spacious Cabin, Needs some attention, Poor Management
So much potential but missing the mark of the PERFECT cabin due to poor management. There were 2 hand towels in the whole cabin, no wash rags, dirty dishes, dishwasher full of dishes, film all over dishes that we had to wash before using. Contacted management who said what we wanted to hear but wasn't truthful. 1/2 day was wasted waiting on them to show up - we wouldn't recommend any properties that this management company is handling.

Inviting Getaway
Our family of 7 (daughter, son-in-law, three grandchildren, my husband and me) totally enjoyed staying at this wonderfully comfortable and cozy lodge. The owner called soon after we checked in, and that was super nice. We were thrilled that a cold front blew the CA smoke away and it was cold enough to use the fireplace. Our grandchildren had so much fun staying here and playing games with each other and with the adults. Of course, we were there to go to Bryce Canyon National Park, but we almost wanted to just stay at the lodge and enjoy the spaciousness of it. There was plenty of room for all of us and yet the downstairs afforded us the ability to be together to eat together, play games, read, or enjoy the fireplace. There were many amenities, and we lacked for nothing while we were there. We all would highly recommend this lodge.

Gorgeous Views from a Gorgeous Cabin
You’ll fall in love from the second you pull up to this property! The views are so pretty! The cabin inside is so unique and beautiful while having all the amenities you need! The huge windows made it feel like you were outside even when you were inside. Even with the grand high ceilings and loft area, we were surprised with how quiet it still was. You could only sort of hear the kids running around and playing upstairs. There is no AC so it was warm at night but it was a crazy heat wave the two nights we went and the owner said the rarely have need for AC so we understood. We just loved our stay and are planning to come up again next year with the family! I would definitely recommend this place to anyone!

AMAZING CABIN!!!!!
All our family could say is WOW!!!!! You won't find a better cabin to stay at in Utah! We use VRBO quite a bit to travel and this cabin has to be hands down the best place we have stayed. We have used VRBO to travel all of Italy and this cabin still blows all those properties out of the water. Mitch an Lotti will ensure that your stay goes without a hitch. We stayed 8 days over Christmas and got snow majority of the time. We would wake up to plowed roads to get us anywhere we would like to go for the day. They delivered firewood, provided even more when we ran out. Took out the trash on a sled (the only way to get it out lol) I could go on and on but this is a Utah gem is one you don't want to miss out on. Be prepared to have the best trip of your life when booking this cabin! Thanks Mitch and Lotti for making Christmas Cabin 2019 the BEST!

Lotti and Mitch were great hosts. They Thought of everything down to the giant marshmallows for roasting in the outdoor fire pit. The cabin was very comfortable for our party of 8. The beds were just right and the kitchen well appointed. There was a griddle for making pancakes and we used the outdoor grill every night.Plenty of towels and paper products. Close proximity to the lake and Ken, the neighbor was super friendly and helpful. We will return

Well appointed, family friendly, very clean and great views.
Mitch and Lottie are awesome owners and providers. You learn most about people’s character in difficult circumstances. The night before our family was due on the lake, unanticipated snow made it impossible to use the original property we booked. They quickly offered us another property and went out of their way to do everything necessary to make it a wonderful experience. Very friendly to families with young children. This was our first VRBO experience – we will be doing it again! Highly recommend! Tom and Amy Rutter

Charming Cabin
Thanks so much to Mitch and Lottie. We had such a great stay at your cabin. Made the trip in February. There was a TON of snow. The kids had a great time sledding. We had 2 families of 4, plenty of space for everyone. The living room is cozy with a fireplace. Beds were nice and comfy. Kitchen had good space to prepare meals. Due to all the snow the quick way to Brian Head was closed, so we ended up just hanging at the cabin. Which was the perfect way to relax, visit and reconnect. The area did have some hearty folks out on the lake ice fishing. We did not partake in that activity. Met one of the locals, Dave. Super friendly. Would love to return in the summer. Perfect place to get away and relax.

Amazing white Christmas in the Bison!
The cabin was even better than we expected. There was plenty of space for our two families and our dog and was decorated beautifully for Christmas. We enjoyed cooking and baking in the spacious kitchen. Lottie stopped by to make sure everything was ok and Mitch also checked in on us by phone. We enjoyed hanging out in front of the fireplace and watching the children play in the snow through the gorgeous picture windows. We hoped for snow and were not disappointed as it snowed almost all of Christmas Day. The property around the cabin was gorgeous and the children were able to sled on the property. Luckily Mitch warned us to bring a four wheel drive as we needed it when we left. The rooms were decorated nicely and the beds were very comfortable. We would definitely stay in the Bison cabin again.
