Two level, 4 bedroom/2 bath beach house, on 1/2 acre lot with private pool
Villa Dos Gatos is fronted by a large teak balcony featuring outdoor couch + 4 person dining table - this is the signature location of the house with a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean. The main living area of the house is located on the upper level; at this level the ocean-view presents itself from all points in the open-concept kitchen, dining and living room areas. Vaulted ceilings, teak beams and numerous windows enhance this area with abundant light and air. The kitchen is well equipped with coffee maker, toaster, pots & pans, cutlery, dishes, glasses, blender, electric stove and fridge. For indoor dining a lunch bar separates the kitchen and living room - there are 6 bar-height, teak chairs. Behind the house is the private pool and rancho with propane bar-b-que and a separate one burner gas stove; a bar in the rancho offers an outside dining option near the pool.
The yard features a huge mango tree, almond tree, lime tree, starfruit tree, numerous palms and other tropical plants. The wildlife is abundant including iguanas, capuchin monkeys, sloths, scarlet macaws, butterflies, Tico squirrels, and many varied bird species. Check out our photos, which all have been taken on the property!
Beach, Ocean and Weather are the main attractions at Isla Palo Seco; they are spectacular! Isla Palo Seco is a barrier island, essentially a sand spit, that extends 8 km in length. The sand beach extends the entire length of the Island on the ocean-facing side; approximately 8 km of palm-lined, pristine beach. The ocean water is warm, surprisingly warm. Waves are constant; they are a surfer/boogie boarder's dream. At Dos Gatos we have boogie boards, water floats and kids floaties and kids sand/pool toys for our guests to use. At high or low tide the beach is breathtaking but if you want to walk the beach, low tide is best. At low tide the ocean recedes to uncover a flat, sand strip that extends for more than half of the 100 or so meters between the water and the beach grass and palms. This flat sand is firm and a pleasure to walk. The beach is never crowded with people. Except for weekends and holidays when Tico (Costa Rican) families gather at the beach, it is almost deserted. I once walked the entire length of the Island and encountered only 3 people! The estuary located on the back side of the island is extensive and it known for its fishing and sight seeing.
The weather between December 1 and June 1 (summer) is predictable; except for the occasional rainfall in the evening or night - average daytime high temp is 33 c under clear skies and average nighttime lows are 21 c. Even in the green season there is sun on most days from early morning to early afternoon when the clouds roll in with late afternoon showers - the average temps vary only slightly.
There are several very good restaurants on the beach: 'Mar Y Sol' is a restaurant/bar less than 2 minutes from the house with relaxed atmosphere, good food, great service and occasional live entertainment!
