Charming waterfront 1920s Craftsman-style home on 4+ private acres

Spectacular views on Wequetequock Cove! Minutes from the Barn Island boat launch & trails, ten minutes from Mystic and Westerly, RI, and half an hour from Misquamicut and Watch Hill, RI beaches. Travel by boat to Sandy Point, Napatree, Watch Hill, and beyond! Ten minutes to Stonington Borough, with its shops, restaurants, museums, and historic sites. This quaint home was built in 1924 and has been in our family ever since. Enjoy relaxing views from the veranda or walk the trails at the Barn Island nature preserve. Bring your boat or jet ski and launch from the Barn Island boat launch, just .6 miles away. A mooring in the cove is available for boats with up to a three-foot draft. Smaller crafts such as kayaks and dinghies can launch directly from the waterfront.

The house is secluded on 4.7 acres, bounded on two sides by state land, the third side by a family lot, and on the last side by the water. The Barn Island Wildlife Management Area around the land creates a quiet oasis in a busy area.

The bright original vintage kitchen has a full-size fridge and cabinets as well as a full-size electric range. It's stocked with full sets of dishes, pots and pans, and serving and baking dishes. Basic spices and condiments are included. The interior of the house is shabby-yet-chic and is charmingly old-fashioned. Outdoors, a large gas grill awaits your BBQing pleasure. There is an older washer and dryer in the unfinished basement and a clothesline for wet clothes outside by the cabana.

Our guest book, located in the kitchen, provides detailed information and instructions on staying in the house, along with maps, addresses, and phone numbers of area attractions.

Rooms with a View
Our family had a wonderful time -- we would definitely stay here again. The views were incomparable, and my husband, who is a painter, was inspired. The location to many nearby places of interest added to the value. One suggestion: if the owners provided kayaks that would be great. We chose this place because of its direct access to water. Kayaking was important to us, so we rented a truck to bring ours. Having a few there would have made a big difference. One slightly misleading thing: There is only one bathroom, plus an outdoor shower. Perhaps I didn't read it closely enough, but usually "1.5" bathrooms means two toilets and one shower, not two showers and one toilet. Anyway, the place was lovely and our adult kids were thrilled. Hanging out on the porch and by the fire pit was everything!

Remote and rustic
This is a rustic older home beautifully situated close to the water. There was a lot of room and many beds. It was very private. We spend a lot of time outdoors but were still surprised by the sheer number of mosquitos, definitely something to be aware of and prepare for. The home does not have central air, but had ample fans and screened windows to open. It was not hot when we stayed and had no issue with this. Overall we were very happy with our stay.

Great property and host!
The property was gorgeous, exactly as shown in pictures. So many amenities were provided and the check in process was so smooth. Everything was laid out in the book provided from expectations to local restaurants to recommendations and even cute pictures!! We would definitely stay again, so close to the beaches and the cute beach towns!

Family vacation
We took a family vacation here. It is not an updated house but if you are wanting to get away from all of that then this is a good place to go. Make sure you bring bug spray there are a lot of mosquitoes. We had a good time

We enjoyed the location and proximity to the State Park - the air was wonderful particularly at sunset. Needed the bug spray after proceeding week of rain. Great living room to play bingo. The kitchen had everything set to go and was well stocked. Great stay.

Rustic Family Vacation
Nan was extremely accommodating and responsive for our 4th of July Vacation. We were able to check in super duper early which greatly helped with our family traveling all the way from Ohio! The 100 year old home reminded all of us of our grandparents home with the same style doors and vintage relics. The view was absolutely gorgeous and the fire pit provided some great family bonding time making s'mores. I think my only suggestion for improvement would be that with the house being so old there is certainly some simple updates that could be made and some newer more comfortable furniture that could be incorporated. Beware of mosquitos - as you're in nature! We came prepared with lots of bug spray but still got eaten alive. There were also a lot of bugs that got into the home so it felt like we were camping at times.

Peaceful and charming
We rented the cottage to host family coming in from out of town for a celebration of life for my Dad that we were having in Stonington borough. The location was perfect, and their spot is gorgeous. We love history and the charm that this cottage offers so the fact that it's a bit frozen in time was fun for us. Our host was absolutely wonderful! We had some requests and they were very accommodating which gave us a huge peace of mind. Because it's on the cove just know that you'll need to work around buggy times of day in the summer, but we had picture perfect evenings by the fire and it was pretty stunning. Highly recommend, especially if you're looking for peace and family time, in an area that is becoming more and more crowded each summer with lots of tourist activity.

Lovely rustic property
We had a great time celebrating a bachelor party at this location! The house enjoys a perfect scenic view and is nicely isolated. The wildlife sanctuary nearby is good for hiking and the house has plenty of amenities.

Disappointing and misleading!
What stood out to us most was how dirty the place was when we got there. Lots of dead bugs, some of the utensils had old food in them, and one room didn’t have any of the beds ready. We felt like we were the first guests of the season and it hadn’t been cleaned in a while.

Girls' Weekend
Spacious home for 9 friends to eat, share stories, play games, and laugh! Plenty of space in the living room and dining room table to seat us all comfortably. Bedrooms were cozy and the kitchen and bathrooms were well stocked with everything you could need. The view is beautiful and the charm of the house is unmatched with plenty of period decor and touches. The host responded quickly to questions and was a pleasure to work with.
