Quiet & private in the heart of Peninsula, National Park and on the Towpath

6010 Canal Street, originally constructed in the 1880, is located in the heart of downtown Peninsula, and is very private, comfortable and quiet. It retains its historic charm while providing modern conveniences to make your stay relaxing and enjoyable. The house is filled with sunlight during the day, and the original hardwood floors, painted woodwork, exposed brick and lighting create a warm and cozy retreat at night. The large kitchen and the dining room provide great spaces for cooking & dining, playing board games or simply spending quality time together. The living area and front porch overlook the Cuyahoga River and Towpath Trail providing a great place to relax while enjoying a morning cup of coffee or an evening a glass of wine. The kitchen has been remodeled as of January/February 2025 and includes induction cooktop, built-in convection oven/microwave and many other conveniences. Photos will be posted in late February as renovations are completed.

6010 Canal Street is situated in the middle of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, and a perfect base for your getaway. It has direct access to the Towpath Trail, Buckeye Trail and Cuyahoga River. It is a 1-minute walk to the shops of Peninsula; 2-minute walk to the Winking Lizard restaurant (a great food and selection of beers and whiskeys); Fishers Cafe & Pub; Century Cycles bike rental; and Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad station, Catholic, Methodist and historic non-denominational churches, and 4-minutes to the Lock 29 trail head, G.A.R. Hall (Civil War museum and concert hall), Peninsula Art Academy or Peninsula Public Library (for books and dvds).

Within a 10-mile radius, you have access to over 125 miles of hiking trails, the Towpath Trail, two downhill ski areas, numerous sledding and cross country skiing areas, mountain bike trails, bike paths, kayaking & fishing, the CVSR historic railroad, CVNP visitor center, historic Hale Farm & Village, Blossom Outdoor Music Center, Porthouse and Weathervane Theaters, numerous waterfalls, a historic covered bridge, farmers' markets, wineries, micro-breweries, great casual and fine dining restaurants, public golf courses, trampoline park, and many more attractions.

Akron (15 miles) and Cleveland (25 miles) are within easy access from both scenic and highway routes giving you easy access to the area’s sporting venues, museums, cultural and arts districts, zoos, Summit and Cuyahoga Counties Metro Park systems, many excellent dining opportunities and shopping districts, and so much more! Both Cleveland-Hopkins and Canton-Akron Airports are within a 30-minute drive.

The essentials are provided to make your stay comfortable, and convenient including down comforters, cooking and dining essentials, board games and puzzles, laundry facilities and appliances, linens, gas grill, trail and park maps/information, sleds, etc. We are happy to offer suggestions and help you plan your activities during your stay. If you are a fitness or competitive runner, we can connect you with many of the area’s trail and road running groups – many meet within a quarter mile of the front door!

Come relax, explore and play!

Please let us know if you have any food allergies, prefer white or red wine, or anything you feel we should know! Please note the driveway is sloped and could be an issue for those with difficulties walking.

The property was amazingly located just yards off the Towpath. We appreciated that the kitchen was well stocked with spices and other minimally perishable items. They even provided bug spray which was so considerate. My one comment is the bedroom to the left had a terrible mattress and was way too soft so we transitioned to the upstairs bed, which had a lot of space and was very comfortable.

Return to Home Memories.
My Grandfather's farm was in heart of the National Park. My daughters and I enjoyed visiting Oak Hill the site of his farm. The hike around the pond brought back memories of gathering hickory nuts and picking blackberries on the farm. The entire area that was home to me so many years ago. Lunch in downtown Peninsula hiking the trails. Our stay was comfortable friendly and full or memories.

Great Location and Attentive Host
We all raved about our stay at this property. It was incredibly well located - just steps from the tow path, scenic train station, bike rental, and restaurants. The house was well-maintained and everything was provided. The host was INCREDIBLY accessible and informative. Would definitely book this property again.

Lovely Town and Location
We came to Peninsula to visit with family and to enjoy hiking trails and all this area has to offer. Paul was very accommodating and hospitable. He gave us many recommendations for restaurants in the area and he left some wine and fruit for us in the kitchen. His home is lovely and well equipped with all the essentials. We would love to visit again!

Family Friendly Property Close to Everything!
We had a wonderful stay at this property and highly recommend it! From Paul’s excellent communication and very warm welcome (fresh fruits, wines and essentials already stocked) to the clean, well maintained, and comfortable property, our family of 4 all had a great experience. We were able to walk to the restaurants, easily access the towpath to bike, and we were only a few minutes from most hiking trails. Lovely town and area and a quick drive to Akron and Cleveland. Would definitely stay here again!

Great location
So nice to walk to the train, have the tow path right out front for biking, and have a few restaurants in walking distance. The home is just as described. We enjoyed several trails at Cuyahoga NP and one rainy afternoon at the Rock & Roll Hall of fame, a 40 minute drive north which ended up being a highlight of our getaway.

You may never leave the kitchen
Such a convenient location, short walk to anywhere. But our favorite family times were sitting around the big kitchen table with coffee in the mornings, and wine in the evenings. Hours and hours in the perfect Hanging Out kitchen... great!

Birthday getaway
We really enjoyed our stay. It was close to the towpath. We could easily walk to the trail. It was in walking distance to bike rentals, shops, and places to eat. It was a short drive to other trailheads, shopping centers, and the interstate. We drove to lake Erie one day. Also a short drive. The house was clean and easy to get to. We had no problems with anything. Would definitely stay there again.

The property was fabulous. Our only complaint was the immediate proximity to a heavily traveled road with accompanying noise pollution.

Cute home with lots of character on the river
We had a wonderful long weekend in Peninsula, Ohio, hiking, enjoying delicious meals at area restaurants and a beautiful evening on the Cleveland Railroad. The house was very comfortable, fully stocked and within walking distance of downtown and hiking trails. The owner was very easy to communicate with and check in/check out was very easy. We look forward to a return visit. Thank you for a great time!

On the Cuyahoga
Great property! The home is well equipped for your stay. A welcome basket of fruit and some goodies in the refrigerator. The beds are very comfortable and the shower is sensational. Located on the Cuyahoga River and the Ohio-Erie Canal Towpath Trail, you can walk or hop on your bike and be on the trail right from the front door. Paul was very easy to work with and communicated well. We very much enjoyed our visit and would love to come back.

Cuyahoga Getaway
Property was GREAT. Nice porch, kitchen was decently stocked, host was communicative and friendly. Outlet available outside to plug in my EV's travel charger and the location next to the towpath trail can't be beat. If it's reasonably warm, highly recommend bringing bikes, they can also be rented about a 1 minute walk from the house. Definitely stop up in Hudson, OH, great food.

Excellent location!
We found the house to be clean and roomy and very comfortable! When we weren't out and about, we spent time on the secluded front porch, playing cards in the kitchen, and morning coffee in the living room! Within walking distance from this house is a train depot, bike rental, 2 restaurants, and the tow path with canal locks. The host generously had a basket of fruit and wine awaiting our arrival and many suggestions for fun activities!!!

A breath of fresh air
This property has such a great location. It is right on the tow path and less than 10 minutes to multiple trails. The house had plenty of space for our group to stay in and relax. The food and supplies were a nice touch. The host was very responsive, polite and professional. Highly recommend this for your stay. Thanks.
