This is a true lakefront home. Jump into the lake from the backyard or dock. This home has a flat backyard with steps for easy access in and out of the lake. Unlike Lake Tahoe, Lake Wildwood is a comfortable warm water lake enjoyable for all water activities.

This house is ideal for family gatherings and very kid-friendly. No need to pack your baby/beach supplies. Everything you need is here including 6 kayaks (4 solo and 2 tandem), 2 paddle boards, inflatable lounges/innertubes, life vests, shuffleboard, cornhole, ladder ball, lawn darts, volleyball/badminton set, tetherball set , fishing poles and tackle, frisbee golf discs, horseshoes, adult and kid picnic tables, a portable crib, high chair, child-sized table with chairs, baby monitor, stroller, beach towels and beach toys. We also have an inside foosball table.

This property features an open deck with patio dining to view the beautiful sunsets. The back yard takes you down a green lawn to the boat dock where you can swim, fish, and watch the serene views of the lake.


Lake Wildwood is a quiet and private gated community in the Sierra Foothills. Located in the city of Penn Valley (off Hwy 20) it is a gorgeous wooded community nestled around a private 300 acre lake.

15-20 Minutes from the quaint towns of Grass Valley and Nevada City and only 1 hour to Lake Tahoe, 1 hour to Downieville, and a little over 2 hours from the East Bay and San Francisco makes this location a great vacation getaway.

Skiing at Sugarbowl, Tahoe Donner, Boreal and Soda Springs is just 1 hrs away. Ski all day and come back to a cozy Lake View.

Mountain biking at Downieville (#1 trail in California) is 1hr to the shuttle. Hole in the Ground (#6 trail in CA) and Donner Rim Trail is only 1hr away. Auburn Trail system (#4 trails in CA) is 40min. The Pioneer trail (#12 in California, Hoot trail (#37 trail in CA) and Scott Flats trail is only 20 min away. Ride all day and come back to a cozy Lake View.

River Rafting the Yuba River is 1hr away, and river rafting the American River is 1hr away.

Lake Wildwood sits above the fog and below the snow. Elevation is at1200 feet which allows for full year lake enjoyment. There are 5 beach areas and parks for having picnics or for playing some tennis, volleyball, basketball, bocce ball, horseshoes or shuffleboard. There is also an 18 hole frisbee golf course within 1.5 miles.

Our home has two exterior cameras. One is  a ring doorbell and is used only when the doorbell rings for times when service calls are done. This camera is active. One is on the lake/patio side of home integrated into lighting over deck steps. This camera is not active. We also have a piece of duct tape over the camera. Nicely Renovated

Excellent vacation house

2023 Girl's Trip
This is our second time at this property, it is amazing! The property is perfect for our group (5-6), plenty of sleeping space and full bathrooms. The outdoor deck area along the lake is perfect for relaxing in the evening with a glass of wine or welcoming the morning with a cup of coffee. Will definitely stay here again.

Wonderful Spot!
My family had the opportunity to stay at this lovely house on the water at Lake Wildwood for a few days. Everything was as advertised and the rental went smoothly. I had a couple of conversations with the owner, he was easy to reach and very accommodating. Would love to stay there again!

Wonderful rental to spend some fun time by the lake
Love how well stock the property is, although the garage could use some organization of all the items. The property is very clean, well kept, perfect location, very comfortable beds. Shower jets in master is amazing, whole house is very pleasant and lots to do to have fun.

Very nice location for family summer vacation
This is a great location for outdoor activities. Unfortunately it rained and hailed and even snowed a bit the week we were there so we were mostly indoors. Not much to do in the area in bad weather. Hosts were very accommodating and responsive to a couple hiccups at the property. We’d definitely book again in warmer months.

Beautiful little piece of paradise!
We are a group of friends of 35+ years who get together annually to laugh and catch up. This beautiful lakeside property had so many extra plusses, like shuffle board, corn hole, kayaks, paddle boards (we didn't try them, but in warmer weather we would.). The home is spacious, clean, well furnished and supplied and the owner was readily available to answer questions both before and during our stay.

Fun for the whole family!
This property is amazing! There are so many fun activities for all ages (kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing, games, etc.). The scenery is stunning as the backyard is right on the water. Deer came by daily and bald eagles flew overhead! The house is beautiful and well stocked. The community is so friendly. We went for walks and most everyone we passed would wave or stop and chat. The hosts were incredibly responsive and helpful! We had an amazing time and hope to come again!

Great Family Home on the Lake
The house was perfect for a family get together. The rooms were spacious and beds were super comfy. They were well stocked with toys for both adults and children. The fuse ball and shuffle board were the highlight of the weekend. The house sits right on the lake and is located on a beautifully decorated street for the holidays. We hope to be back in the summer to enjoy all the water toys. My only recommendation would be the kitchen needs an inventory check and deep clean. Other then that we had a great stay.

Perfect Summertime family getaway!
This is our second stay here and we always enjoy ourselves. The Master Bathroom upgrades are amazing and the shower itself was such a treat for this tired mom. :) The house is a great size for our group (2 grandparents, 2 parents, and 3 kids). It includes a lot so you don't have to pack a whole lot other than clothes and food which is great, especially when having to pack for 3 young children. The lakefront location, is beautiful and the sandbox on site is a favorite for my young kids. The owners Sachie and Steve are very easy to communicate with and very accommodating. Highly recommend this place for a relaxing, low key vacation.

Wonderful lakefront experience
I've stayed at this wonderful lakefront property twice in the last 2 months, and I plan to return as often as possible. The home is actually nicer in reality than the pictures can show, because it is a open one-story floorplan with lots of windows and high ceilings. The owners were very helpful with all of my questions, and the neighbors were very neighborly and helpful also. This was an even better vacation spot after I realized that: kayaking is best enjoyed first thing in the morning (very calm and serene), there are wonderful hiking trails just at the end of the road, and downtown Grass Valley is a great historic place to visit, shop, and go out to eat.

5 stars - Outstanding Lake launchpad!
This home was an outstanding launchpad for an active lake weekend. Between the sandbox, water toys, and nearby playgrounds, our 1 year old was in pure heaven!! Our family was quite comfortable – Steve was an incredibly helpful and responsive host. He even helped arrange for a neighbor to give us a boat ride, which was a highlight. If we could think of any suggestions (and we'd have to really dig deep), we recommend giving the lightbulbs in the living room a makeover - too many clashing yellows and whites. Otherwise, we had such a fabulous time that we are now looking into buying a home at Lake Wildwood. Thank you again, Steve!!

This is our second time for a small family vacation in this beautiful house. Why second time? It is simply the best waterfront house: great swimming and sand area for kids, nice outdoor furniture, great supply of water toys and kids toys. Wonderful deck with great eating area. First Family Vacation with Baby
My family is all over the place so we try and get together, preferably on a lake, once a year. We subscribe to the newsletter 'Only in Your State' where this property was featured. It was perfect! My husband and I are new parents so being able to put the baby down and jump in the lake was a dream. I did end up using my own pack n' play and would recommend bringing your own, but it was nice there was one there if we were in a pinch. Getting to watch the fireworks right from our backyard while the baby slept was so nice. You never have to leave Lake Wildwood, but if you do, Nevada City is adorable and the Yuba river is gorgeous! We took advantage, left the baby with Grandma and Grandpa, and did some whitewater rafting. Highly recommend!

Fantastic Time!!
We had family members stay from ages 4-79. The home was clean, inviting and so many different activities for all of us to enjoy. We were in the water with all of the water toys, played shuffle board, ping pong, tether ball, and just truly enjoyed our time there with everything that was available and being with each other. It will be great memories for all of us and we hope to go again some day. Thank you for sharing your home!!
