In the living room there is a large TV with BT Vision and DVD player together with an extensive library of books & DVDs, sofa seating for 4 and a dining table in the bay window.

The Royalist Suite is fully self-catering apartment but you will find a complimentary starter supply of coffee, tea, milk, sugar & biscuits. The suite is also stocked with consumables including washing up liquid, hand wash, dishwasher tablets, kitchen roll, tinfoil, toilet rolls, salt & pepper & cooking oil.

There is a washing machine & tumble dryer in the communal laundry room. Both are coin-operated and accept £1 per load.

Towels & linen are included, as is complimentary membership to the North Lakes Spa in Penrith for the duration of your holiday where you can use the gym and heated indoor pool or relax in the sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi. You can also book treatments or massages at extra cost.

The communal Great Hall has a large fireplace, pool table & baby grand piano and is a great space for relaxing. If you don't feel like cooking, the local village pub, only 300 metres away, serves food and many good restaurants are in easy reach of Orton Hall by car.

The Royalist Suite at Orton Hall offers a period getaway for your short break in atmospheric surroundings in one of the most beautiful parts of the country. Located in the Eden Valley within the Yorkshire Dales National Park but on the doorstep of the Lake District and all its charms, it offers a perfect base for exploring this beautiful part of England on foot, by car or by bicycle.

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay here such an unusual place having a secret door was great fun and not something we have come across before .parking was easy internet speed was good plus the tv has Netflix and there are lots of books and dvds to choose from ,the kitchen and bathroom was a bit dated but very clean and perfectly fine another joy was watching the red squirrels playing on the lawn right outside the apartment.

Better than expected
The place is absolutely stunning and we loved the secret door in particular. The fact there was some basic provisions when we arrived was super. The size of the apartment was much bigger than expected, and the decor, although a bit dated was in keeping with the property. The local village was quaint and we enjoyed a meal and drinks at the local pub one night.

Lovely Stay
Lovely stay in a lovely house. Area was beautiful, good proximity to Lake District and Yorkshire Dales. Just off Motorway but far enough away to not notice it. Really quaint property, loved the bookcase hidden doorway. Lots of books, dvds etc for use. Milk, cookies, tea, coffee etc provided. Handy location to charge our electric vehicle at Tebay services.

Beautiful
Was blown away by the beauty of the building. Our apartment was lovely. Would benefit from a bathroom refit to bring it in line with the rest of the apartment but it was decent enough. Kitchen has everything you need (needs a bulb in the fridge though) Nice and clean, bit of dust but I didn't mind and think it adds to the look! Nice comfy bed :) Lovely and cosy in the evenings, would definitely come back! Right up my street 👍

NOT QUITE WHAT WE EXPECTED
If you'relooking for a smaller version of Downton Abbey, this is not it. While quite comfortable, there are a number of drawbacks. The smell of mould in the bathroom is very unpleasant. This was the most expensive place we've stayed in this holiday, and to find we were expected to pay to use the washing machine and dryer was notacceptable, particularly as the washing machine smelled of mould.

Lovely, quiet accommodation. Set in mature parkland gardens. Close to village and Tebay Farm shop.
Quite unique apartment with panelled walls and ceiling in living room and secret bookcase door to the rest of the apartment. Close to Kendal and the Lake District. Nicely equipped and very quiet. Just what was needed for an Autumn break.

Great location
We had a lovely time staying in the Royalist Suite. The communal area was also lovely and the place was full of character. It was in a peaceful location with easy access to the lakes. A few things didn’t work such as the radios and there wasn’t a DVD player as mentioned in the listing. Despite this we had a lovely stay and would stay there again.

Short honeymoon stay
The location is fantastic, very easy to get to many beautiful parts of the lake district. The accommodation itself is very spacious, lovely setting in the old Manor Hall. As you'd expect from a property of this age it is not perfect, and has a few quirks (the shower gets all it's pressure from the hot water so if the emersion heater has been on recently you have to put up with a light spray!) The bed is very comfy and we slept well. We picked up a few essentials but expected there to be coffee, which there wasn't. Also a general note about the area, which we were not aware of until after we arrived: restaurants & pubs stop serving food around 8-9pm, so make sure you plan ahead!

Beautiful building
Overall we really enjoyed our stay at the royalist suite, and we really enjoyed having access to north lakes spa - that was a great touch! Enjoyed watching the red squirrels in the garden and little one enjoyed spotting rabbits! My only niggle is that we were disturbed two evenings by the people in the flat above doing very loud renovations (I did mention on one of the to Stephanie that they were disturbing us, it was suggested for us to go upstairs which if I’m honest We didn’t feel we were able to do). Just felt it was a tad inconsiderate considering they had seen us in the corridor, other than that a very pleasant stay.

Lovely short break away from it all!
We booked for a few nights away at the last minute, and we're so glad we found this place. We had everything we needed and the house was in a beautiful setting. Everything about our stay was straightforward and relaxing, and the main living room with the secret doorway was particularly atmospheric. We fully intend to book again if we get the chance later in the year.

Amazing experience
I brought my friend from Texas and we had an amazing time there. So much to do at the house and then we drove around many places ~ it felt like a mystery to navigate the room but when we figured it out it was so cool! I’ll let new people figure it out alone too hahaha thanks for the wonderful time and for the extra gifts left for us on the table !!! Also lovely meeting the people that frequent there! :) 10/10 recommend
