About this property

Entire place

Peaceful coastal property with large garden. Unbeatable views of sea and moors.

The Mowhay at Trevowhan lies on the unspoiled north coast of the Land's End Peninsula, midway between St Ives and Land's End. Trevowhan is a peaceful hamlet of granite cottages and the Mowhay, with its unbeatable sea views, stands in spacious surroundings within the owners' property. It is a few hundred metres from the Cornwall Coastal Footpath and has National Trust fields and moorland hills behind.
The Mowhay is on the upper floor of a traditional granite barn and has its own large private garden and parking area. The property has a spacious lounge with sweeping views from all windows, There is a newly modernised kitchen, a bedroom and a bathroom with shower. Access is by a stepped ramp with guard rail.
Trevowhan is only a few miles from Penzance, St Michael's Mount, Sennen and St Ives and is an ideal base for exploring the area. The beautiful Portheras Beach is just over a mile away while some of the finest walking country in Cornwall is within a few minutes of The Mowhay. There is a good selection of eating places and pubs within two miles in either direction. The nearest shop is two miles to the west in the village of Pendeen and Penzance is a fifteen minute drive away. There is a regular bus service running between Land's End and St Ives that stops 100m from the property.

A relaxing and enjoyable time view from the property outstanding sea to the one side and countryside to the other. The Barn Owl flying past and hunting for its young early morning and evening was an extra speical treat. Our host Pauline and Des were wonderful hosts.

Relaxing stay
Great, quiet location for exploring the west of Cornwall, north and south coast. Pauline and Des were very welcoming, checking that everything was ok with the flat for us. It was great to watch from the lounge window as the barn owl hunted in the fields. A visit to the Minack theatre is a great experience, even in the rain! The property is located in a lovely part of our Country.

Beautiful Cottage at an Amazing Location!
Everything about this cottage was good. Comfortable bed, bright living room with sea views, well fitted-out kitchen with washing machine - and all detached with garden, parking & good communication. The Sat-Nav took us right there, but had to park and locate on foot as the property is tucked away up a drive way - no big deal though! Beautiful coastal walks nearby.

Quiet setting
The accommodation was quaint and quiet. We were a little further out than we expected but after a day's walking and exploring it was the perfect place to relax for the evening. Loved the setting. Des was very helpful and kind, we wished we had more time to do all the things that were in the welcome booklet.

Great experience at the Cornish coasts!
The house has everything you need to relax in-between trips including the assistance and help of the wonderful owners who life near the house, always ready to help if needed. The surroundings are beautiful, the coastlines are overwhelming beautiful, the house isn't in a touristic place but in full countryside so peaceful and quiet is hard to imagine unless you've been there.

Peaceful Coastal Holiday
The Mowhay was a beautiful, peaceful place to base our mini break. Gorgeous views out to sea and onto the moorland above. The flat is spacious, spotlessly clean and with very good facilities. Pauline and Des gave us a warm and friendly welcome and we look forward to seeing them again when we no doubt rebook this great find.

Quiet and Relaxing
Had very good communication with Des and Pauline prior to my arrival at the property. I was welcomed with tea bags, milk and biscuits waiting for me in the kitchen. Des and Pauline are extremely friendly and helpful and live in the adjacent building if needed. The property has views on three sides and was very clean and bright throughout. There is a large well-equipped kitchen and large lounge with a dining table and two sofas. The hamlet is quite remote, so I would say a car is essential. However, it is the perfect location to explore the North and South on the Cornish West coast. I am happy to recommend this property to anyone looking for a relaxing break in the Cornish countryside and look forward to booking it again.

Loved It
We needed a place to get away, and this was it. Though our stay was during a school break, we'd have never known it until we drove into Saint Ives. The cottage was as described and was clean, spacious, and comfortable. The views were so mesmerizing it was difficult to leave for our daily explorations. Pauline was helpful yet unobtrusive. The folder with recommendations, information, and a map was useful and thoughtful. We loved this place.

Not quite as expected .........
The property was clean and well presented on initial viewing but it was tired and needed refreshing. In places there were grubby marks on the walls. There was a hairdryer but no plug point near a mirror so in order to use the hairdryer the mirror had to be moved into the living room to the dining table for use. The basics were provided but no enhancements such as shower gel or cosmetic tissues. The water pressure was very poor - part of life in the country - but it meant the shower was either boiling hot or cold - it took a lot of adjustment to get an acceptable temperature and then it was only just above a dribble.

Very nice appartment in great location
After a trip down to Cornwall, we were warmly welcomed by the owner. Great start of our holiday. The appartment itself was nice and clean, offered all one needs during a holiday and on top of that a great view out all windows. It is located in a very peaceful and quiet environment which was great. A set of information and good tips about where to go out for dinner and great walks in the environment was ready waiting for us. We really loved our stay here!

Just wonderful
The Mowhay is clean comfortable and well equipped. There are beautiful views especially from the three lounge windows. Welcoming tea and biscuits were much appreciated. We used the ‘ Coaster’ bus a lot, which runs hourly through the summer and stops a two minute walk from the Mowhay. There are also excellent walks from the door along the coastal path and over the moors. The late spring flowers in the hedgerows were amazing. The cottage is quite remote but within a small cluster of properties, which suited us fine. Shops, pubs etc are a car or bus ride away. Pauline was on hand if we needed anything and check in and out was totally easy. We would definitely recommend to anyone who wants a relaxing holiday.

Peaceful
Close enough to the coast to see the sea from the window; far enough from the crowds for solitude and peace. Excellent hosts—kind and welcoming but never intrusive. Clean, tidy accommodation in an elevated position providing great views as well as the all-important parking slot and wifi. St Ives and Penzance are not far away, otherwise relax and enjoy.

A peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of a busy Cornwall
The Mowhay is an ideal property for a quiet get away for two. Beautifully decorated and equipped , and WiFi which is a bonus. Pauline and Des are great hosts who make you feel completely at home. A lovely garden to sit in and read, soaking up the atmosphere -it was so very quiet. Having stayed only a few days we came home refreshed. Just a little hint- leave the car parked in the drive and explore by using the open topped bus running both clockwise and anti-clockwise, quite an experience.
