Socializing meets scenery at this lively township with fantastic cafés and restaurants overlooking an impressive vista of rocky headlands and the Pacific Ocean.

Discover the vibrant township of Point Lookout perched on a stunning headland jutting out from North Stradbroke Island. As the island’s social hub, Point Lookout has a lively dining strip where fresh seafood meals are complemented with a view that looks out over the easternmost tip of Queensland. Head to the town’s golden-sand beaches and go surfing or diving. From the craggy clifftop, peer into the water and you’ll spy a diversity of marine life.

Bring the family for a day of surf and sun at Cylinder Beach. This lifeguard-patrolled beach is sheltered from the waves by a rocky bluff and is a great place to take the little ones for a swim. Check out the views from the Cylinder Headland Foreshore and relax under the dappled shade of coastal trees. To the south, you’ll find the town’s namesake, Point Lookout. Weave through coastal walking tracks and enjoy the views of the golden sands of Frenchmans Bay to the south.

Explore the town’s southeast section to find a series of waterfront cafés. Headland Park contains the breathtaking North Gorge Walk, which is one of Queensland’s best land-based seawatching spots. Clamber around the stunning headland trail and look down into the ocean waters to try your luck spotting dolphins, turtles and rays, as well as humpback whales between June and November.

For more adventure, check out the town’s pounding surf breaks or join a diving tour of offshore sites. Try four-wheel driving along the rugged tracks. After a day of wildlife watching and exploration, treat yourself to a visit to a day spa or enjoy a glass of wine overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

Point Lookout is located on North Stradbroke Island’s northeast coast. It is a 20-minute drive east from the ferry terminals at Amity Point and Dunwich. Ferries depart from Toondah Harbour, Cleveland. Pick from several accommodations options in Point Lookout, including comfortable hotels and luxury vacation rentals with private whale-watching viewpoints for experiencing the region’s rich marine life.

"This property was pretty good. Very relaxed. We stayed in a beach shack, it was pretty minimal for the price. The bathroom walls are not insulated making the bathroom a sauna during the day. On check out day, you are directed to empty the rubbish. This is annoying. I'm on holiday, I've paid for an ..."

So beautiful

The main reason for only rating it OK is the fact that no restaurants in the area were open on Monday night. Unless you cooked for yourself. The only place open for meals was the hotel.

Love point lookout, but it can get very busy on summer holidays. Must do the North Gorge walk and the walk down to Frenchman’s Bay. Cylinders Beach is awesome for a swim in the surf or for a walk early or late.

I have been to Point Lookout on 4 separate occasions during the last 3 years & outside of Home, Cylinder, Deadman's, Frenchman's & Main beaches & the Point Lookout walk - all excellent but the supporting commercial facilities are poor & getting worse

Some hit and miss with customer service from the local fooderies but enjoyed the Anchorage. A special shout out to Kerri Burns from Noelene's Seaside shop in the complex - Kerri went above and beyond and will be my lasting impression of Straddie.
