We chose this property for location and for the advertised spa but didn’t understand that the staff closed it at 5 pm so if check in is 3 pm and you’re only staying one night that’s a very short time in the hot tub or sauna. It’s a beautiful setting and the breakfast was superb.

Our stay was nothing short of perfect. It is a gem hidden near a river. The staff were beyond friendly and welcoming. The breakfast offered variety and a good quantity. I would highly recommend staying here if you have an opportunity to do so in your travels.

A quiet getaway
This is an amazing hotel. It is nestled in a rural atmosphere next to a rushing creek. The food for dinner and breakfast was excellent. I highly recommend it for an overnight getaway.

Perfection!
Oh my goodness!!! I’d rather this place stay off the beaten path and kept a secret!! Then it won’t become crowded! It’s beyond beautiful! Rooms were lovely and clean. Hotel grounds are out of a romantic storybook. We happened upon this place as a stopover between Annecy France and Paris. Now I’m begging my husband to take me back and ditch the kids!! We brought our two kids and got a room with two bedrooms. It was perfect! I’d highly recommend the fall season as the ivy was turning red and the tiny roads were perfect!

Lovely hotel in a beautiful setting
Great hotel with tastefully furnished rooms. Immaculately clean. The only downside is that the rooms are extremely small. Very pleasant evening dinner served adjacent to the river.

Super place to stay.
Exceeded expectations. Gave us a larger room, even helped carry suitcase upstairs. The ambience is great, being next to woods and a stream. We tried eating the regional plate offered and it was really awesome, in a separate building with fireplace. Staff welcoming and quite willing to speak English.

Beautiful hotel. A converted mill by a river.
A wonderfully peaceful and beautiful setting. Very friendly hotel staff. Great breakfast. Room was immaculate but small. We arrived on a Sunday and so the restaurant was closed, but we were able to sit by the open fire in the dining room and eat the food we brought. Very nice.

Tranquil oasis of calm
A beautifully renovated and converted water mill in a quiet and peaceful location surrounded by mature woodland and with a lovely terrace overlooking the river. The decor is simple, modern and tasteful - rustic on the outside - cool and contemporary on the inside. Excellent breakfast - top notch accommodation.

Charming if you like heat and bugs
First the positives: located next to a beautiful river in a national park. Great to sit outside and enjoy a glass of wine and read a book. Staff was friendly and helpful. Close to lovely little towns of Avallon and Vezelay, both of which are worth a visit, and also close to the Chablis area wineries. Negatives: No air conditioning (it was 30C when I visited) and rooms are painfully small. No refrigerator in the room to chill the great white Burgundy wine you will inevitably drink. To get some air and perhaps a bit of a breeze in the evening, when you open the windows, bugs by the hundreds visit your cramped quarters. Breakfast for $14? Go to the Lidl in Avallon (about 5K away) and buy some croissants, butter, jam, cheese and meat for $6 that will last for a couple of days. Dinner for over $20 - I know, it's France, and the air is expensive, but this place doesn't need to charge that much for a couple hunks of meat and cheese. Pick another hotel in this great part of France!

Charm & location
This hotel is exact what I hoped it would be I.e. A welcoming and comfortable hotel. Rooms small but very nicely fitted with bathrooms to match. Set in a beautiful location close to the A6 so ideal as a layover on the north/south drive with the added bonus of being close to Vezelay which is possibly the most beautiful town in France (UNESCO listed) Excellent breakfast (€10) All in all good value
