Converted Pole Barn Near Beach Becomes Luxury Destination

Luxurious amenities combine with beach casual to make our Nid d'Amour (Love Nest) distinctive. In it's prior life a 'pole barn', this property has now been restyled into seventeen hundred square feet of self-contained comfort. Just a short walk to the community beach access where the Mouth of the Elwha River and Strait of Juan de Fuca converge, with acres of sandy beach. Most days it seems like your own private beach, with only a few surfers or beachcombers. When you arrive at your destination the refreshing sea air tells you immediately that this is a very special home-away-from-home and the scented evergreens whisper their welcome, and the waves provide a relaxing, natural "soundtrack",.

While oriented to the woods and fully fenced for maximum privacy, guests are lulled to sleep by the sound of the surf. Rainy days on Freshwater Bay are a delight because as the tin roof patters above, you are coz y with a cheery fire, books to read or board games to play. We are located less than 1/4 mile walk from the public beach access where the mouth of the Elwha River meets the bay.. In addition to the many known attractions of county, We have guests who "bird" at the mouth of the river. We have hosted guests interested in the Elwha Dam Removal Project, authors who crave a quiet place to think and write, as well as the film crew who documented the history of the river and salmon habitat in a documentary called "The Breach". A lot of guests feels we are centrally located to all the natural wonders here on the Olympic Peninsula.

Snuggle by the fireplace before slipping into the silky comfort of the European linens on your Cal-King canopied bed. The second bedroom contains an Eastern King (wider than longer), Enjoy cooking in a well-equipped galley style kitchen .Lyndee refuses to cook on vacation-or ever anymore- but guests who enjoy cooking have said we have the best equipped kitchen of any vacation rental they have visited. Or. enjoy the unique flavors of the Pacific Northwest at one of the many excellent restaurants in town. (We are eight miles west of downtown Port Angeles, the park entrance for Hurricane Ridge or Victoria ferries).

Take a dip in your double fenced private hot tub, count all the stars you can't see living in town and revel in the sounds and smell closeness of the sea. We frequently get guests who tell us "'last night was the best I've slept in ages'' While often used by lovers who want to get away from it all, (and frequent honeymooners), the house has been enthusiastically received by families wanting a unique location to use as their home base while they explore the wonders of the Olympic Peninsula or day-trip to Victoria, British Columbia.(check current Cobid regulations). To enter Canada an enhanced drivers license or passports are required for each traveler. We took two grandchildren to Canada and at that time they accepted birth certificates and, if parents divorced, a notarized letter from the non-custodial parent granting permission for the day trip. Originally with only a master bedroom with large Cal-King bed, we have added a second bedroom with a plush Eastern King bed, both covered with imported Italian linens. There is also a sofabed in the Great Room.

Also on display, our dad's piano from when he ran away from home to become 'a serious jazz musician, before he grew up, married our mom and became Washington's best known jazz educator, Dr. Ralph Mutchler. We are currently collecting photos from the various jazz clinics and stage band festivals dad and Olympic College hosted, to post above his piano--our very first guest actually said, 'No way-I knew Ralph!' If you can provide one of the missing stage band tapes, stay one night free! In the living room the couch also converts to a 'full' sleeper (two small kids or one teenager) with tempurpedic foam added for comfort. Some guests could care less about TV but we do have a Smart TV( Prime, Netflix, Hulu, Discovery Plus, AMC, Showtime, HBO Max) and hundreds of DVDs. We have Prime streaming and a huge selection of channels.

Kid-friendly amenities include board games, glider, a fire pit for weenie and marshmallow roasts (we provide s'more supplies) plus, it's a 5-10 minute walk or drive to the beach and the Elwha Delta.

The owners of the Love Nest live next door and are delighted to help their guests plan their excursions, recommend wonderful places to dine or even arrange for a masseuse to attend you after a full day of activities.

Perfect for dog owners (and anyone else too!)
Many listings look great, but the reality doesn’t hold up. Not so this time - Lyndee and Allen’s place was even nicer in person. It was extremely well appointed with nice linens, quality kitchen appliances, and coffee, tea, and s’mores fixings. Allen was very welcoming of our dogs, and we loved soaking in the (very nice, if shallow) hot tub while our pups sniffed around the fully fenced backyard. It’s about a 5-10 minute walk down to a lovely dog-friendly beach, where our dogs loved playing in the waves. A++++ will return!

Superb accommodations
This is quite simply the loveliest VRBO I've stayed in -- my fourth time! Spacious, warm and welcoming rooms, delicious hot tub outside, jacuzzi inside, sweet, comfy beds. Beautiful setting at the mouth of the Elwha River and 7 minutes to downtown Port Angeles. Really, everything you could possibly want.

Home had everything you would need plus some. About a 10-15 minute walk to the beach. Must access the beach from the Elwha Beach Trail down the street. *Home is attached to the property owner's home, but I did not see or hear them during my stay.

Nature weekend
Fun visit to Olympic NP with my daughter and her pup. The place was very cozy and well stocked. Comfortable beds and furnishings. Loved the hot tub and cute fenced yard for the dog. Wish we were staying longer. Will def come back. The only issue we had was that we couldn’t figure out how to access the beach. There were private property signs everywhere. We could have asked Allen but it was late at night and didn’t want to bother him.

Wonderful stay!
We had a marvelous time here. The house was supplied with everything we could have wanted - even bathrobes! The location was perfect for exploring and hiking around Lake Crescent, Hurricane Ridge, and other points of interest. We especially enjoyed evening strolls to the beach for sunset. If we hadn’t been tuckered out from our activities we certainly would have enjoyed the extensive book and video libraries as well as the many board games. I highly recommend a stay with Lyndee and Allen.

The house was wonderful! Very clean. The owner tried to guess the personal item that might be needed and they were available. Love the hot tub! The location of the house was wonderful so we could visit the places in the area on our bucket list. Allan and his wife were wonderful hosts! We are definitely wanting to come back in the future!! Relaxing Property
We really enjoyed our stay at Allen and Lyndees place. The photos really do not do it justice. The kitchen is very well appointed with things such as spices and olive oil (a real rarity at vacation rentals these days). The hot tub is amazing! The whole vibe is very relaxing and you can hear the water from the backyard. Our dog was very comfortable inside and outside of the property. Allen is a friendly host and very responsive. Beds are comfy! One more thing- I really appreciate that there are large towels in the bathroom that will fit most bodies.

This dog-friendly home was great for a three day stay for our family. We loved the yard with a grill, firepit, and hot tub for relaxing after the day's adventures. The location was wonderful with the stunning beach and Elwah River a quick walk down the road. Allen and Lyndee were so friendly, responsive and accomodating during our visit!

What a great short stay
We all enjoyed the unique decor and many amenities the house and property offered! The beds were comfortable, and showers and bathrooms were well stocked and wonderful. It is a short drive to town or out to the Olympic Forest and some beautiful lakes! Alan gave us a fun and warm welcome and responded to our one request very quickly. Thank you both for a delightful stay!

Best Ever
We have stayed in many vrbo/vrbo-type properties, including nine in the last few months, and rate Allan and Lyndee’s as the best we have ever stayed in. It is easily the most well equipped, with many personal touches throughout. A vast library of novels and dvd’s. We loved the hot tub, which is in a very pretty setting. Very quiet with easy parking. We especially enjoyed the personal welcome from Allan, and are looking forward to returning.

This place is a wonderful location for exploring the northern olympic peninsula. The house was very clean and had lots of interesting knickknacks around, great movies to watch, books to read. The whole family enjoyed the "barn"! The check-in was easy and all the details about light switches and such really made it easy to settle in. It had such unique decorations and knick-knacks to while away the time looking at. The kitchen had everything you would want (including ingredients for S'mores!). Quiet and peaceful
Allen and Lyndee are great hosts. This is our 2nd stay here and we love the place. It's got a lot of personality. The street is quiet. It's a bit of a walk to the beach but very doable. Nice yard for the dogs, but if July or later, bring a brush because there are burrs in later summer. New range from the year before. The bed is super comfy. That is a big deal to us. We may just come again next year. Thanks for a lovely stay Extra info: It's an hour drive to the beach by Forks or to Neah Bay. The beaches that allow dogs are on the reservation. Rialto beach is not easy to get to. You have to climb over big logs. La Push has nice paths, so if you have disabled or small children in your party, go to La Push.

Wonderful stay!
This property was just as listed, but the bonus was how well the home was stocked. There were plenty of towels and wash clothes available, DVDs, Firestick, books, s'mores fixings, Keurig and K-cups as well as a drip coffee maker with filters, toilet paper, clothes washing detergent sheets, hand lotion, soap, shampoo, blankets, spa towels, walking sticks for hiking and so much more. The owners thought of everything we might need to make our stay comfortable and stress free. The ocean is just steps away, and after a long day of hiking, the spa was so wonderful to relax in! We had a lovely stay and enjoyed every minute.

We wanted to be close to the National Park and this location was that. It is a bit off the beaten path but still doable. Couldn’t see the ocean from the property but could walk to a beach. Enjoyed our time relaxing in the hot tub after hiking or biking for the day. The bed we choose to sleep in was very comfortable.

This property is very fun to stay at, with a great hot tub, a fire pit and the makings for s’mores, a Keurig and K cups, pantry basics, good kitchen equipment and cookware, and a comfy large sofa with an easy to use tv and DVD system (Netflix included).
