Westward Sun is one of few owner-managed cottages in the friendly, laid back gated community of Barefoot Cottages in Port St. Joe, FL. This is our home away from home, and we invite you to stay with us!

Upon arrival, you’ll find two free dedicated parking spaces right outside the unit so all you have to do is unload and come right inside. Just roll your suitcases, beach wagons or strollers right up our ramp for easy access to our screened in porch. This is the “gateway” to our home with cozy outdoor seating plus ample space to prep and unwind from your daily adventures including a locked deck box with beach gear, a hose to rinse off sand and a towel rack for the provided beach towels.

Once inside, you’ll be greeted by the main living area which includes a comfortable living room, counter seating for 4, dining table for 6, half bathroom with washer and dryer, plus a fully stocked and recently renovated kitchen. In this space, we also have a 65-inch Roku TV to log into your streamed accounts, Queen sleeper sofa for extra sleeping space and games to enjoy on rainy days. Enjoy tasteful modern coastal decor in a soothing color palette throughout our home.

In the kitchen, we provide all the necessities to cook wonderful meals plus a selection of durable and quality items we thoughtfully curated such as:

J.A. Henckels knife set with built-in sharpener
“Grind and brew” drip coffee machine or French press

Both bedrooms are conveniently located upstairs away from the main living area. Each includes brand new LVP flooring, a King sized bed with memory foam mattresses and pillows, bamboo sheets, 100% cotton quilts and extra blankets for our off season guests. The bedrooms also have ceiling fans, 50-inch Roku TVs, full size dressers and closets to stash your belongings plus dual nightstands with USB lamps and full length mirrors. Connected en suite bathrooms are the finishing touch, one with a shower and the other with a shower-tub combo. Plus, there’s a second screened in porch with privacy curtains, a daybed, cafe tables and extra seating to enjoy coffee or a cocktail off one of the Master bedrooms. Our spacious screened in porches boast expanded living options to relax, work or play while protected from the elements and bugs!

Within the community, you’re a short walk to the larger of two pools with hot tub plus a dedicated grilling area with picnic tables. As the community is easily accessible to U.S. 98, there is some occasional road noise, yet Barefoot Cottages is tucked away in a natural setting with abundant palm trees to feel like a true tropical escape. You might even hear tree frogs and cicadas!

Centrally located in the heart of the Forgotten Coast, you’ll have access to the white sugar sand beaches and breathtaking western-facing sunsets that make this part of Old Florida truly unique. From where to eat, find the best shells, go for a jog, hire a local fishing guide, or even book family photos, we are passionate about this area and want to help you “live like a local”. As owner-managers, we are available to provide recommendations or connect you with a Gulf County concierge to build the vacation itinerary of your dreams.

Cottage sleeps 6 but is most comfortable with no more than 4 adults. No events or parties.
Barefoot Cottages no longer allows RVs, boats or boat trailers inside the community gates although there are a few storage areas nearby.
