1) THE APARTMENT
Private house also used by the owners for their holidays. Familiar environment.
On the second floor of a house in the centre of the village, near the lake.
Large balcony with a beautiful view of the lake and the public garden.
On the balcony you can have breakfast or dinner watching the sunset over the lake.
Double bedroom (plus a single sofa bed), living room with double sofa bed, bathroom, eat-in kitchen. Total: 4/5 beds.
Available: oven, TV, washing machine, electric water heater, air conditioning in the living room, shower and bidet. Balcony in the kitchen for drying clothes. Space in the cellar for bicycles.
Cool and quiet public garden with benches. Very nice neighbours.
2) THE VILLAGE
Porto Valtravaglia is a small town on Lake Maggiore 8 km from Laveno, 9 km from Luino, 80 km from Milan.
Very calm environment. Mild climate.
Ideal place for couples, families with children and elderly people.
In summer there are frequent markets and popular festivals with music and dancing.
Dario Fo, 1997 Nobel Prize for Literature, was born and lived in the village
3) INFORMATION FOR GUESTS
Tourist materials are available in the house to make guests' stay more pleasant.
Guests will find a "book" prepared by the owners (in Italian and English) with:
- emergency services (hospitals, ambulances, police)
- information necessary for the use of the house and shops
- timetables of means of transport (trains, boats, ferries, buses)
- tourist information (maps, points of interest, beaches, walking paths, tourist events, shops, banks, restaurants, etc.)
4) HOME SERVICES
For guests are available:
- clean bed sheets and towels
- containers for separate waste collection (paper, organic, plastic, metal, glass, generic)
- slow elevator (10 steps need to be climbed)
The owners or other guests usually leave some sugar, salt, coffee, etc.
Guests can use everything they find in the house.
In case of need, guests can always communicate with the owners via phone or Whats App

7) GUEST REQUESTS
The owners will welcome guests personally for the exchange of keys and for the main information. Since the owners live in Milan (90 km away), guests are invited to communicate in advance the time of their arrival.
Guests are asked to avoid excessive noise and not to bring sand into the house. Pets are not allowed.
Guests can leave dirty towels and sheets, but it is requested to leave the house clean and tidy.
8) WHO ARE THE OWNERS
The owners are a couple of retired high school teachers. They have travelled extensively around the world and love meeting new people and traditions. They speak Italian and English, but also understand a little French and Spanish.
For the owners it is always a pleasure to have guests. Guests have always appreciated it. The owners hope that future guests will also be happy with the hospitality they will find.
9) NECESSARY DOCUMENTS
The house is registered in the official list of holiday homes in Lombardy. All guests over the age of 18 must be registered with the Italian Police offices. For this reason personal documents (identity card or passport) will be requested.
10) PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES
The house does not provide specific services for people with disabilities. If necessary, contact the owners to evaluate possible solutions together.
The lift goes halfway up, so you have to walk 10 steps down.
11) COVID-19 PREVENTION
Before each new guest enters, the house is cleaned and sanitized.
Guests have surgical masks and hand sanitizer gel available.
The pharmacy is 30 meters from the house, the hospital 10 km.
