Prince Bay Park is a vast area of landscape gardens that stretch across 80 hectares (200 acres) of land. It is considered one of the most charming parts of the West Lake Scenic Area. Many visitors traverse the park, which is also known as Taiziwan Park, on rented bikes to see all its features.
Make your way to the park in spring to see the array of colourful tulips that cover the ground. Attend the annual Tulip Festival. See dozens of cherry and apple trees in full bloom.
In the winter, there is a stark contrast of aesthetic features. Note the bright yellow leaves of ginkgo and French phoenix trees next to the red maple canopies. Vivid colours decorate the trees’ leaves in the park year-round.
Capture photos of the remarkable blooms around the park. There are regular wedding ceremonies held in the gardens regardless of the weather. The favourite spots for wedding photos are by the picturesque river and the various elaborate bridges that stretch across it. Note the horse-drawn carriages carrying newlyweds.
Take the children along so they can play in the spacious fields. Bring an array of food for a picnic and play ball games with the family. Take a break with snacks and drinks at the ornamental windmill’s café.
Visit the section of the park by the large hill and climb the steps for panoramic views of the city. It is known as one of the most tranquil viewpoints in the region. Many artists have immortalised the vista of West Lake from this sport. Visit on the weekend and immerse yourself in the local life. Watch Hangzhou families enjoying themselves in the park.
You can find Prince Bay Park by Taiziwan Gate on Nanshan Road. Take a bus or taxi to Flower Harbour or Huagang near downtown Hangzhou and pay a small fee to get into the park.
