Whether you watch every game or barely know what a touchdown is, tour the Pro Football Hall of Fame for a fascinating look into America’s beloved sport. Fittingly, it is located in Canton, Ohio. In 1920, this small city was the birthplace of the American Professional Football Conference, the forerunner of the National Football League.
Walk through football history in the hall’s exhibits. The centerpiece features the busts of Hall of Fame inductees. From players to coaches to team owners, see the faces of men who shaped the sport.
Photographs and displays show how football has evolved over the years. Watch screens throughout the hall showing reels of some of the sport’s defining moments. Relive key moments from the current NFL season in the Pro Football Today gallery. See a recording of the most recent Super Bowl game in the Super Bowl Gallery.
Go to the lower level of the museum for several kid-friendly exhibits. Children can play video game football or participate in a trivia challenge. Note that all tours are self-guided. Knowledgeable greeters are available to answer any questions you have about the sport or your visit. To see all of the exhibits, allocate at least 3 hours for your visit, though you could easily spend an entire day here.
Don’t miss the gift shop as you exit. It is filled with football souvenirs and memorabilia from every team in the NFL. If you get hungry, purchase refreshments in the Tailgating Snack Bar located on the ground floor. You’ll also find vending machines throughout the museum.
The town of Canton has plenty of food if you need to take a halftime break from football. Explore the charming downtown or learn about the successful presidential campaign that William McKinley ran here in 1896.
Visit the Pro Football Hall of Fame any day of the year except Christmas and Thanksgiving. Pay an admission fee, with discounts for seniors and children. On-site parking is available for a separate fee.
