I read a lot of reviews and watched a lot of videos before selecting Lopesan. I did not pick the resort thinking it’s going to be a “5-star” experience and you shouldn’t either. Yes it has its flaws but to my surprise I am rating this experience 1 star higher for its staff and their warmth. The only unique thing about unique is a lobster dinner (which doesn’t work for vegetarians like me), the Unique beach club (again staff makes it better than the food offered) and the VIP beach area which I loved as I wanted space and privacy. I wish there was more offering for those part of unique (like preferred dining reservations, pool access, and premium food and drinks) the property did not have top shelf drinks part of all inclusive for unique members which is a flaw. The most disappointing feature are the state of the rooms. We had a tropical queen room and there were bugs in the balcony, cockroach in the bathroom area, and even walls were thin as we could hear every passing person and their conversation. I also noticed many restrooms even the ones near Unique areas were dirty. It smelled, it was unsanitary, and everything was just taken “lightly.” While that may be the way or life in the carribean but potentially health hazardeous environment and sanitation should be a priority especially for member spaces which are “premium.” Lastly I want to mention the staff. Most staff members from Caribe, Atlantico, and unique beach areas were so warm. Especially Chef S. Singh.
