The hotel was very comfortable and well appointed. The scenery was beautiful and there were paths nearby for walks. The church bells and cowbells provided a nice ambience. We did not realize that the hotel was part of a campus that included the Sisters Of Mary when we booked but it was a nice surprise when we arrived.
Beautiful, clean airport, no reception so laurel tricky to get any extra information but very comfortable, great views, spa area, very comfortable. We were only there for 1 night but would have loved to have stayed for more.
Very clean, newly renovated hotel with comfortable rooms, good facilities (restaurant, gym, sauna, relaxation area, roof terrace), magnificent views (also from the balcony), friendly staff and excellent breakfast (also the bbq in the evening was lovely).
We spent one night here whilst touring around Switzerland. It’s a lovely hotel on the side of a hill overlooking Lake Walensee. Hotel is in good order.
As with virtually all hotels in Switzerland, there is no air conditioning so it is recommended to take a mini fan with you if visiting in the middle of summer.
We stayed here for our wedding, and the hotel was not very accommodating. The hotel is by a bus stop, but the area is VERY secluded, and the bus doesn’t run very late. There’s no restaurants in town, and the hotel restaurant wasn’t open the 2 days we stayed. The staff was not present at all, and was not able to call us a cab. We had to walk up the mountain several times with a STEEP incline. No shuttle either. The worst part was the beds were hard as rocks, and the pillows were paper thin. We had asked for extra pillows, and the “staff” said services were limited. Also says there’s a spa, but the only spa is the sauna… on the bright side, the views were beautiful, hotel was clean, and breakfast was decent.
No hotel staff present in the place, check in and check out done with a machine, so if you need any help- you have non.
The room was boiling hot, with no AC nor Fan, woke up 6:00 AM sweating like crazy to hear insane bell noice coming from the chapel nearby. The only good thing was that it was clean, and its good because you will need to take 3 showers a day after sweating 24/7.
I’m traveling A-LOT and it was one of the weirdest experience I had.
The hotel is situated up the hillside above Unterterzen- you would probably need a car but there is an hourly bus service from just outside the hotel. Walking down to the village is fine takes about 10/15 mins but wouldn’t fancy the walk back up.The hotel itself is pretty new, standard rooms aren’t huge but comfortable and have a balcony. Good shower and there is a fridge in the room, however no kettle or coffee machine. Coffee is available at a charge from a machine in reception. People have complained about the church bells but they never bothered us (there are ear plugs supplied). Main issue with the room for U.K. travellers is only one socket accepts U.K. adaptors - you might want to bring EU type plugs for charging phones etc. As other travellers have noted there is no manned reception, checking in was fine but there aren’t a lot of staff around if there was an issue (there is a phone number to call). Also staff aren’t that fluent in English. The restaurant is based in the older conference centre side of the hotel, we only had breakfast which had a reasonable selection although I was disappointed in the muesli selection. There is an adjacent garden area with seating where we’d have a coffee after breakfast. Lunch and dinner are also available. The other thing to note is there are a lot of flies around- this seems to be an issue in the area not just the hotel.
The hotel is very well maintained and is ideally for a short term stay! We stayed for a night in the standard room - The room itself is modern - a coffee or tea maker would have been great to have. Also, the restroom didn’t have a vent, just an opening above and below the door which was kinda surprising. The gym is small and the infrared light cabin wasn’t working. The Sauna was the best part of the SPA area. Also, the hotel served breakfast in the morning which had everything we would ask for! Overall it is a good hotel with a magnificent view of the lake and mountains! Would definitely come again and maybe try to stay at the superior room!
The staff was extremely friendly. The property was clean. We had an incredible view of the water. Enough staff spoke English that we were able to accomplish everything we needed to with minimal complications. The breakfast buffet was delicious.
Exceptional hotel run by nuns. Clean, comfortable rooms (everything seems brand new), the most sumptuous and delicious breakfast we had in Switzerland, but the best thing that could excuse everything else if there was anything to excuse is the view - overlooking a beautiful lake and mountains on the other side. If we knew, we would have stayed longer.
The view is astonishing, it just had taken my breath away, absolutely fabulous!! The room is clean and new, breakfast is good too.
Everything is perfect, despite there is a morning bell from the church besides, it could purify my spirit. Consider with this price in Switzerland, I would rate 10 out of 10, would definitely come again!
I booked this place as a half way point between here and there. I saw it was on a lake. I was shocked how amazing the view was! I felt I could have been on Lake Como or some other resort…just spectacular and unexpected. The breakfast is across in a separate building and is awesome.
CHECK-IN WAS COMPLICATED BOTH BECAUSE WE HAD BOOKED W POINTS ONLY TO DISCOVER UPON ARRIVAL THEY DO NOT ACCEPT HOTELS.COM POINTS. ADDITIONALLY THERE WAS NO AIR CONDITIONING OF WHICH WE WERE NOT AWARE AND THERE IS NO STAFF AVAILABLE AT NIGHT (IF U RUN OUTR OF TOILET PAPER UR ON YOUR OWN. THAT SAID, PLACE IS BEAIUTIFUL WAS VERY CLEAN AND COMFORTABLE AND INCREDIBLE VIEWS !
Double-Plus is the spectacular view
A key minus is no front desk or which means if you have any questions or requests such as extending your stay, you're out of luck. I desperately hope this does not catch on as a trend at hotels.
Another minus is that there is no parking right next to the hotel - you must figure out a way to squeeze your car next to the lobby if you have heavy bags to unload but then move your car to the parking lot a fair way down the hill, which would not be pleasant to walk to and from in inclement weather, or if one had mobility issues and was traveling alone. Aside from those, though, again, the view is spectacular.
