This place is the pits. If I had a remolded room, which I did, I would hate to see an old room. No security lock on the door, the parking lot is small and unlit, in a seedy part of town. There is also no over night person working. Went to check out in the morning and lobby door was locked. Would not stay here again.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, room comfort
Rapid City
Room was clean.
But very noisy, vehicle traffic, bathroom fan turned on with the light and rattled the entire room, this was a first floor room, the overhead joists squeaked with every step of our second floor neighbors.
This was the mostly poorly cleaned room that I was forced to stay in for a very long time. Just about all areas were either untouched (for a long time) or was not paid attention to. The sheets and towels were old and stained with very unappealing appearance. The bathroom was disgusting. It was very, very poorly cleaned with urine on the commode and dried urine on the floor. The tub had scum buildup from about two weeks of not being cleaned. The countertops in the bathroom and outside were both barely dusted. The mirror was also untouched. We spoke to the front desk and she helped with clean sheets and towels. My wife felt compelled to clean the room herself. We learned that the hotel owner is using untrained staff members to clean the rooms. Additionally, the supervisor who was responsible for checking room cleanliness, did check our room, and identified it as having no problems. This is a very poorly managed hotel.
Great little motel with spacious and clean rooms. Good place to stay for one or multiple nights.
The Exterior gives the impression of an older, more run-down motel; however, when guests open the door, the room is a welcoming sight.
Staff were helpful. I was concerned about the location at first, but later found it to be close to all the places we wanted to see. Memorial park was less than a mile away and the downtown with president statues was also very close. We tried to book a third night and found the motel booked because of the State Fair, this was also nearby.
This small hotel is located in a very seedy and derelict section of downtown. We felt very unsafe walking in the surrounding neighborhood after dark. The exterior of the hotel was in shambles. The hotel lobby closes between 11 pm and 7 am, so there is no staff or security whatsoever at night. There was incessant noise all night long from a non-ending stream of Harleys and mufferless pickup trucks roaring up and down the street in front of the hotel. Even with earplugs, sleep was impossible.
Though the room was clean and recently "remodeled", the toilet seat was not attached to the toilet bowl so sitting down on it was not possible.
Of course there was no breakfast. There were no close restaurants; even if there was a restaurant with 20 minutes walking distance, it would be risky to say the least.
Hotel was great. Affordable for tbe area. The front desk staff was fantastic. Flexable and accommodating. The outside looks a little rough but the rooms are updated, clean and very comfortable.
No A.C. In the bedroom, and there was a strange smell. Had to use fans to try and move cool air from a hall ac unit . Window blinds did not fit,and you could look into the roon. It was a basement room with only a dead bolt for security
Spent 3 nights here on a South Dakota sightseeing vacation. It's a very old motel but the rooms are refurbished and very clean. Got a very nice deal by booking my reservation early. Overall would highly recommend a stay here. Would stay at again if I ever return to the area.
Room was very clean and well laid out. Great to have a microwave and a fridge with a FREEZER!! The place was quiet and easy to use. Close to down-town and easy walking distance to a C-store or two. The owner's wife was on duty when we came in and when we checked out--and she was very friendly and cared about our stay. Only one small problem was the AC unit in our room was not very powerful-but kept the room semi-cool. Over-all a great value!
Avanti Motel is a locally run business that is in an older part of Rapid City, however the accommodations and rooms have been remodeled and are great. Staff was friendly and helpful. Prices were very competitive. Only a half hour away from Custer State Park and Mount Rushmore.
Great location, in the older area of the city. Very close to the 'old town' area of Rapid City. The old town area was quaint and a nice surprise to our visit. Many specialty shops and restaurants that are independently owned and are very unique. Loved the sculptures of all the presidents on the street corners. Busy area with families and tourists- felt very safe. Great place to look for a restaurant or just walk around.
When we arrived at Avanti, the exterior was rather old and rough, but once we opened the door to our room, we were amazed at how clean, comfortable and modern it was!
This was one of the nicest motels we have stayed in, and the price was very affordable!
We pulled up and almost left because we arrived at night and from the outside it looks pretty rough. The staff was very friendly and they gave us a renovated room. The beds were very comfortable. The bathroom was small and the shower would change temperature and hit you with a blast of cold water periodically.
