Firstly it's important to point out this hotel was the cheapest in the area by nearly 50% which should be taken into account. However, I stay in a lot of hotels, some expensive and some cheap, not all of the cheap hotels feel cheap.
The hotel gives instructions to phone ahead before check in which we did, we were told someone was on so we didn't need to make any plans. On arrival you enter the hotel via the service corridor to the restaurant, we was 'greeted' by a waitress. She clearly didn't have time to look after us and seemed surprised we didn't yet know our room number. If the servers haven't got time (and why would they) it'd be better for them to simply offer to get someone to help. The room is very basic which is made worse by being furnished with cheap looking furniture. Budget doesn't have to look cheap. The rooms have plenty of facilities to allow people to cook themselves, we didn't need to do this but there were all of the basics you would need to heat a meal. The only real criticism we had was that the smell of chip fat came up the stairwell from the kitchen and could be smelt in the rooms themselves, we probably only spent a total of 8 hours in the hotel but this smell was present in the evening and following morning.
Overall the hotel is pretty much what you would expect at this price level. With a bit more thought and some very basic changes it would represent fantastic value for money.
