Reviewer Comments:
The good: The property has a rustic and quiet charm. We enjoyed looking out to the river while sitting on the porch or deck. The outdoor deck and fire pit was a nice draw in the evening, though mosquitoes were still an issue. We could see serious efforts to update all the amenities inside the house for comfort and convenience. This was especially evident in the new bath fittings and shower. It was greatly appreciated. The management and owners had a nice list of requirements here. The environmental controls were convenient and easy to use. There was also a propane fireplace, though our stay didn’t require it. Garbage and recycling bins onsite were also a nice to have. The not so good: Though the interior space was cleaned thoroughly, the pans under the stove-top burners got missed in the kitchen. There were only three pieces of furniture and a trunk, in the main room (including the bed). These pieces were well worn and had expended their best years of comfort. The extra fold-out bed was not a substitute for a couch, as it took constant stacking of the multiple pillows against the wall to create any back support. The stools in the kitchen should be tossed. The table and chairs on the screened porch were relatively comfortable and the only place to sit for a meal. Sitting on the porch in the off season or inclement weather would be without heating or cooling. The bathroom door scraped hard on the floor when opening or closing due to the added flooring. The bathroom door and floor is new and the door was hung properly. So, a little work with a block plane would fix that defect. Launching for kayaking from the property was not the most obvious without wading into the water. Launching off the dock would be problematic due to its anchoring posts and configuration. The amount of water vegetation in this section of the river might deter inexperienced paddlers.
