This 2BR l home lies well back from the road. Among the “neighbors” are rescued squirrels, adopted as orphans by the owners’ son. Relax by the screened-in pool, or walk among the pines. Your time here will be refreshing.
This pet-friendly home is within walking distance of a dog park and woodland trail. About 3 miles away lies Fort McAllister State Park, with a reconstructed Civil War fort and miles of walking trails. Myrtle Grove Plantation and Hardwicke Studios are a mere 100 yards away.
The home has two bedrooms: a downstairs bedroom has a king-sized bed and large closets; an upstairs bedroom comes with 2 twin beds. There is a separate laundry room. Linens and towels come with your stay.
A large open area includes a living room and kitchen. The home comes with excellent WIFI and basic cable. The hallmark of this property is the privacy. There is only one neighbor–your host–on the 10-acre property.
Wildlife abounds in the woods surrounding the property. Guncclubs and hunting are a few miles away. There is excellent wildlife viewing at nearby Harris Neck Reserve.
The charm of this home is outdoors, with a plush lawn and a huge oak tree in the yard, draped with Spanish moss. Pets are welcome, and there is plenty of room for play outside, as well as dog parks nearby.
We run a busy squirrel rescue, so hosts are often seen in the yard at supper time feeding cashews to rehabilitated squirrels living in the wild. The squirrels typically come in as orphaned babies and are carefully and lovingly returned into the wild. If you would like to "meet" a squirrel, please let us know. We believe food, prayer and love play a big part in growing a squirrel big and strong, especially after a trauma. We are always glad to have help with giving them extra love. Small children are permitted to pet them gently with one finger but typically they don't hold the babies unless they are sitting down on a soft cushion since baby squirrels are wiggly and can easily fall. Some of our squirrels currently in residence are: Sid, Simon, Cannonball, Daisy, Destiny, Tulip, Henry and Rosie.
A pool is a few feet away, but guests should swim at their own risk.
Park in the driveway.
The house and backyard are for guests’ use.
For stays of 38 nights or more, we are able to split your payments into multiple payments so that you do not have to pay for the entire amount upfront. Please contact us for more information on this.
