Bridge End is an enchanting haven for up to three guests, set in the picturesque village of Langthwa
This holiday cottage has a wonderful mix of contemporary style blended with original features such as natural stonework, flagged floors, beamed ceilings and a warming wood burner in the living room – perfect for unwinding after a day in the fells.
Downstairs is a homely living room with very comfy seating in front of the wood burner which leads through into the stunning farmhouse kitchen with dining area. The kitchen has plenty of storage space and worktop space.
Upstairs there is a good-sized bedroom and king bed with feature open truss ceiling stripped wood flooring and open views to the front. The second single bedroom has a window to the rear overlooking the beck. The family shower room is off the landing with a walk-in shower cubicle, wash basin, W.C. and heated towel rail.
Outside there is a fabulous, enclosed stone flagged terrace area overlooking the babbling Arkle Beck and to the front is a forecourt. The rear terrace is accessed via the French doors in the kitchen and is the perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine of an evening or a mug of coffee the in morning during the warmer months.
Langthwaite is well known for being the shoot location for many scenes in the original ‘All Creatures Great and Small’ series and will become instantly recognisable for anyone who has watched an episode or two.
Within walking distance of the holiday cottage there are two pubs, The Red Lion, a very traditional Yorkshire Dales pub, with a true Yorkshire Landlady who is a fountain of knowledge on the local area. Up the road, about 10 minutes’ walk is the CB Inn, renowned for its locally sourced food, extensive wine and gin lists and various real ales.
Reeth is only a short 3-mile drive away with several amenities such as three pubs (all dog friendly) serving proper pub grub. The Burgoyne Hotel with bar and restaurant if you are looking for that extra special meal. There are also several cafes, and ice cream parlour, two bakeries, gift shops, a Post Office, the Swaledale Museum and arts and crafts centre.
There is an abundance of walks and cycle routes in the area, many of which are straight from the door including lower-level walks along the Arkle Beck or more challenging hikes up Calver Hill or Fremington Edge.
The location of the cottage is great for exploring the area and is within easy reach of Barnard Castle with its bustling town centre, eateries and specialist shops. Richmond and Leyburn are about 30 minutes’ drive with further pubs, eateries, butchers, and supermarkets. Richmond is also home of Richmond Castle, a Georgian Theatre, Easby Abbey and lovely riverside walks.
Bridge End has underfloor electric heating downstairs and electric radiator and hand towel upstairs. To ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible all bed linen and towels are provided, and all electric is included in the rental price. The initial supply of wood will be provided as a starter pack. More fuel can be purchased from the post office or gift shop in Reeth.
What’s more, Bridge End is dog friendly, up to three well behaved dogs are welcome.
