"We enjoyed our stay"

"This cabin was a wonderful place to stay! It was quiet except for the sound of birds in the woods. The interior of the cabin was clean and well furnished; the bed was especially comfortable. While we didn't make use of the fire pit, the screened porch was our favorite place to sit day or night. Although it might have been too early for them, we felt relaxed on the porch knowing we wouldn't be attacked by mosquitoes or other bugs. It was easy to take our dog out for a walk on the back roads...

"Overall an average experience except for a few things, contact person did not call back or answer my text regarding hairdryer missing or open the garage door. The Keurig was not working , TV was not set up . The place was clean, great location, quiet and safe neighborhood. This place has the potential to be an awesome experience if attention is paid to the small details."

"This was honestly everything we hoped it would be! Beautiful landscape, river access, plenty of space at the Captains Lodge to relax and enjoy yourself or play games with the family. We enjoyed the entire stay! Internet was not great, but also we were fine with unplugging and just enjoying the nature. "An immaculate house with great space inside and out. Location close to Shenandoah was our goal, but the house was the cherry on top. Easy check in, great communication from the owners, and a clean, well appointed environment. The game room was a hit with the entire family as well. Would highly recommend and stay again!"

"The location was minutes from Skyline Drive and we were close to tons of hiking. Front and back yard were both fenced and great for my niece and my dogs. House was super clean and had everything we needed. Only suggestion is a bigger couch or more seating in the living room. It was a little tight trying to relax at night in front of the TV."

Definitely a great find when traveling when another couple, as both Master Suites were amazing, no need to flip a coin for the best room, LOL. We did have a bit of a surprise upon arrival - apparently housekeeping had forgotten to return to one of the bathrooms and vacuum up a pile of dirt they had gathered and replace the throw rug. "I’ll get right to the point - the reason for the lower check in process rating was that the address was listed wrong in the property details and we tried to get into someone else’s home. That being said, the owner responded fairly quickly, resolved the information snafu, provided compensation and the rest of our stay was completely stress free. "Carla's cabin is an oasis of peace and relaxation. It is tucked into the woods and up against a mountain, offering an escape from the heat wave in the valley. We spent a lot of time on the porch listening to bird song and watching the hummingbirds. As usual, the house was well-appointed, comfortable and super clean. We keep coming back because we feel so peaceful there. So many whippoorwills! And Carla is the BEST host."
