Great location and ideal for our dog
House has lots of character as it is a very old building, so don't expect too much in the way of modern comfort.
Owners very friendly and helpful. They clearly wanted us to have a good experience and were very patient with our lack of French. With phone translation app, we got along fine.
Kitchen is fairly well equipped. Lounge/dining area is compact but serviceable. The soft seating space is limited, but fine for two. The spacious garden area is fully fenced and secure, which was ideal for our dog. The friendly horse in the field next door likes carrots and was an added source of interest for our dog.
The double bedrooms have standard double beds, which were a bit narrow for us as we have been spoiled for years with super-king size sleeping space, so we opted to use the twin room upstairs. I found the firm mattress very comfortable. My husband had trouble with his back - bed was a bit too firm for him.
The house needed a lot of time with the heating on to maintain a comfortable temperature, but we were visiting in mid November, so that didn't come as a surprise.
The house is easy walking distance to Villereal, which is a lovely historic bastide town (beau village) with all the services we needed, including a friendly, helpful car mechanic.
We would definitely rent this property again.
