"The Tapoco Lodge is absolutely beautiful and the staff was amazing. The cabin we stayed in felt like everything was antique but somehow still new. My only complaint was that Expedia allowed me to book it as a pet-friendly room when the actual room I chose wasn’t pet-friendly. The Tapoco honored the reservation anyway and took care of us. They were terrific. My wife is already asking if we can stay here again. "

"Out of the way and off the grid property. The road in and out is single lane, be prepared to back out if need be. Lots of twists and turns, if you’re one to get car sick be prepared. But once there it’s a quaint, quiet studio like place with nice little deck to sit on and enjoy the tranquility of the area. No cell, no web service. Just you and your partner, or as it was me and my girl. "

"The Lazy Elk cabin was as presented in the VRBO information. It was clean, and the view of Fontana Lake was beautiful. Our particular GPS kept misdirecting us to the road, but thankfully some kind locals actually showed us the way. We stayed at the cabin almost the entire week, keeping warm by the fireplace and fire pits, and just unwinding."

"This has become an annual "get together" for two of my old high school friends and myself. We live in three different parts of the country and get together here at this cabin and it could not be more perfect. Secluded, peaceful, beautiful mountains, babbling brooks and the cabin is spacious, comfortable and has everything we could want for our stay. "Our trip to NC was to experience The Tail of the Dragon on our motorcycles. Oh did we get that in spades. 318 curves in 11 miles, everywhere, not just on the 129. The cabin is perfectly situated to enjoy some great driving loops. Loaded with lots of maps and brochures to help you get oriented to enjoy your stay. There was nothing that we wanted for. We had some unfortunate wheel bearing issues on our truck so had to spend one day repairing it. Our hostess along with a great neighbour were over...
