The breakfast was really good.
We used to have dogs but sadly lost both of them last year,
but what we could see with people with the dogs were well catered for.
We did feel that even though very clean a bit of updating needed overall, the dining room was lovely(looked new).
Enjoyed our stay at the Royal Lodge. Dinner was really good. Everything was dog friendly and even she was given a little meal. Felt the rooms could do with a little revamping but were clean and tidy.
The hotel is situated in a beautiful picturesque valley, beside the river. The staff were so welcoming and friendly, and the room, dog friendly option, was clean and tidy x
typical small country hotel, nice staff, food was good. hotel itself is a little dated and tired, but for a night or two to explore the area, all that you need.
The property was clean and in a nice location. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Quick check in process. Our room was a family triple room on the top floor. Room ok, 1 double and 1 single bed. Limited plug sockets (had to keep swapping and changing from kettle to hairdryer etc) and could do with an extension lead so can use hairdryer infront of mirror!
Shower very low down in height (im only 5' 6 and needed to bend down to fit underneath it).
Stair way down smelt of cigarette smoke.
Breakfast not included in price and very expensive
The property was excellent apart from wifi not working properly and the roads to the property was narrow and had pot holes but carparking was easy and the staff were excellent friendly
Great spot, exceptional beauty. Hotel cosy and very clean.
Only thing is, parking should be in room price for people staying.
Food options limited and pricy but expected for such a beautiful spot.
Interesting rambling hotel built into the hillside, resulting in multiple steps up to the bedrooms. Excellent restaurant and friendly and helpful staff.
Minor niggles on the plumbing & shower: the cold pipe appear to be bundled with the hot and produces tepid water unless run for a long time - not ideal in a heatwave. The soap dispensers are about head level that make them awkward to operate. A lower location would be better. No basket or shelf in the shower for flannel or own soap or shampoo.

Good
The hotel is a bit old and in need of some modernization but this is reflected in the price. Otherwise, it is clean and maintained.
The staff was very friendly and the location of course is a winner.
