We are a group of friends who spend a week together in an interesting place/country about every four years. This is our fourth adventure together. La Madone is located right up the road from what was Les Reys, where we stayed in 2001, near the charming town of Roussillon. It is a perfect location to explore the hill towns of Provence and extend our investigations to the entire Luberon area of the Vaucluse Provence.
The property has a main house which included bedrooms and bathrooms for each of the 5 couples, and a couple of extra bedrooms we didn't use. It has a workable kitchen with plenty of plates, silverware, glasses, and cooking pans which we used when we prepared our traditional themed dinners, on two nights; and where the chef prepared us a delicious meal one night. The refrigerator is ample plus a spare refrigerator, a frozen frig, and a wine cellar for all of the food and drinks necessary for a fun week. Two dishwashers make it a breeze to clean up! The stove/oven is a good one, too. There are also several areas with large tables inside and outside, so choosing the perfect spot to dine adds to the enjoyment. The swimming pool, just a short walk from the house was a life-saver after a hot day of sight-seeing; a natural gathering place. We did not need to use the Artist's Studio.
Our host, Nadege, was a sweetheart and helped us understand the washing machine as well as the general household functions. She also secured the chef, Peter, to cook us one dinner, which was delicious! She was always available, if we needed another tutorial on how to do something.
The property representative, Vanya, gave us a great list of restaurants in the area, as well as suggestions of things to do.
The villa was charming and was kept clean and maintained, so we all felt it was truly our home away from home. There was plenty of room and conversational places to sit and view the surroundings and/or read/talk. We would all recommend it to other groups for a fun place to spend a week together.
