Stroll the attractive grounds of this historic landmark and follow in the footsteps of nobility from all over the world.

Admire the beautiful exterior of Rupenheim Palace, a three-winged stately home. Here, find an oasis of greenery and manicured gardens to help you escape from the hustle and bustle of Offenbach’s industrial areas.

The version of Rupenheim Palace that stands now was built in 1787, though originally it was a smaller mansion built in 1680 for one of the area’s highest officials, Herr Von Edelsheim. Imagine the lavish events that entertained nobility here for a number of years, until the building was deserted in 1902. Fast forward to 1965, when the town of Offenbach took ownership of the palace. At the time, it was in ruins, but citizens and investors came together to restore the exterior to its past glory.

Notice that the building is split up into three sections, with two wings extending forward from the main section to make a horseshoe shape. There is also a small brick chapel, tucked away and surrounded by trees.

Enjoy the way the sunshine streams down onto the shrubs that line the building. On a sunny day, the stark white walls seem to pop against the sky, while the dark blue roof gives the palace a regal feel.

Different seasons offer different experiences. Come in fall to see the tree leaves bursting with red, orange and yellow hues, a fantastic backdrop for a late afternoon walk. In the spring, blooming flowers contrast beautifully with the palace.

Visit in the summer for the chance to take part in the annual concerts and festivals hosted in venues surrounding the palace. Listen to the sounds of classical music drifting through the air as you enjoy the views. Make a date for a day out with your family and pack a picnic to eat on the grass.

The interior of Rumpenheim Palace has been turned into modern apartments and is not accessible to the public. However, it is still possible to spend some quality time exploring the grounds. Walk across the river to see the striking view from the other side. The palace towering over the river makes for wonderful photographs.
